He's shite after his injuries, never been really good.. had about 5 "boss games"

Could be replaced with better, like Moreno but not as bad...

and if we're serious about top4 these things need to happen.

Some good recommendations from Jamie Carragher

    https://www.google.co.uk/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=2I18VuvGOfHH8gf6tZzQCQ&gws_rd=ssl#q= jamie+carragher+on+lucas

Jamie himself struugled to nail down a position in the side but eventually became a legend as a centre-half at about the same age

Lucas is immense - LFC through and through
Should we spunk another 30M+on such a player profile when we already have a hidden gen in our midst.
If we did would he prove to be better than our Lucas

    Fonte to Man U/Everton ?
    Stones to Man C 50M ?

Is Kante any better than Lucas now he is at Chelsea ?

Are we under-rating Lucas just because he is not a new signing?

The guy is a Liverpool legend waiting in the wings.
It will truly be a sad day if he is allowed to leave.
I think Jurgen realises this and knows he has to give it some serious thought.

Many fans want some big signings.
    Many big signings flop.
Many fans complain about big signings that have flopped.
Lucas has always given 100% and can fulfil many roles but I have been so impressed (as per Jamie Carragher) with his performances at centre-half.
He could carry on there for many years to come!
His persona on and off the pitch is also so, so LFC!

Jamie Carragher was about 24 when he nailed down CB role

Lucas is 29 and we've just signed 2 CB's so not the best comparison!

Lucas is decent player and useful option, but to say he's 'immense' or comparing with Kante is a bit far fetched

Though think you may be on the wind up!

I'll say one thing about Lucas, at least he smiles!

Usually at the ref after a foul on the edge of the area.

    1) Rafa moved Carra to CB in 2004/05 when he was 26/27 - took him the season to nail it down
Lucas has had several appearances there over the past 2 seasons - so from when he was 26/27
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Carragher

    2) Match reports quoting Lucas as immense (try getting anywhere near this many hits for any other player)
    https://www.google.co.uk/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=2I18VuvGOfHH8gf6tZzQCQ&gws_rd=ssl#q= match+report+AND+%22lucas+was+immense%22&start=30& filter=0

    3) Comparisons with Kante and others +more Lucas praise
    http://www.theanfieldwrap.com/2015/11/lucas-leiva-and-that-is-why-we-like-him-we-like-him-we-like-him/

    4) I don't do wind-ups - Sorry!

    1. He'd played centre back many times before that, was under Rafa he established himself there in 2004/5. Lucas only started playing centre back for a few games early part of this year due to injuries. He's 5th choice option for centre back, nowhere near similar to Carragher

    2. He's had very good matches, matches where he's been immense sure on the odd occasion, he's not a player you would call immense, an immense player would be first choice for us for a start with nobody questioning it!

    3. I like Lucas, he's a good squad player

    4. Surprising!

That link doesn't work. Very good read on the Anfield wrap posted later on though.

Constantly checks in with injured players and there rehabilitation too off the field.

Him and Sturridge are a bit similar in ways but judged somewhat differently.

If sturridge is greedy and shooting when others are available, or hits a shot wide it's part of being a striker. Awesome goalscoring record cited.

Lucas concedes a free its needless, misses or fails to pass he's not good enough. Awesome tackle and intercept stats, all those fouls and tackles with how many red cards? Counts for nothing with a good few.

Sturridge irreplaceable at lfc, not even sturridge himself would join us!

Lucas very easily replaceable, yet usually amongst the top tackling DMS in world/European football.

    Played 328, 6 goals, 18 assists, yellows 62, second yellow/red 2, red card 0.
He's had some tough tackles/fouls in there.

I'm all for stats, but don't think you can put goals on equal level with tackling stats!

Lucas has done well in DM, particularly just before the injury, but if you play with an out and out DM who sits back, the nature of the role means they're prime position for tackles and interceptions

There's holding position , covering others forays etc but Lucas has pressed high up the pitch. It's not a sit back there role tbf.

Don't see why there so heavily discounted in some people's minds.
