Yep. Or, if he was at another club and we were wanting to buy him, very few would be excited at the prospect.

Thing is, you can get away with a player like Henderson in the team and still be successful but they absolutely must be surrounded by quality. The problem we have, is we have far too many around the same level as him.

We are better than mediocre, just not as good as we were, and not as good as we'd want to be.

Depends who you're comparing us to. One league cup in 12 years.

He is not a 6. I would Luke to see him in the position that Can or Wijnaldum plays similar to where he played in 2013/14 season. As a 6 you are either the Makelele type or the Redondo Alonso type. Jordan is sadly not the basic defensive type like Makelele, so he I'd suppose to be that ball playing 6 and unfortunately he falls short.

As for captain I believe you give it to your main man on the park or someone that us a leader of man, a boss, a General, no nonsense type, in that regard he is neither as well. I would have given it to Coutinho prior to him wanting to leave. I think there aren't other options. But with who is available based on my criteria, I would go with Mane or Can. Mane us our best player. Can has that fighter, boss type of persona, he is not a good footballer though, just showing the type of ability or persona I want in a Captain in relation to our starting 11.

Could do worse than sign mascherano. Seems to be out of the Barca team and they've played him out of his best position DM for ages. The guy put a few noses out leaving as soon as woy arrived - but could you blame him after Rafa being his coach.
He loves defending, has passion galore and no beefs leading folks and barking orders. Coming into a WC year he'd have an opportunity to play regularly and scare the shite out of and keep our lads alert.

The thing is, he has played well as a centre back, so whichever position he played in, he would be better than what we have already.

I like Henderson and think he's a good player. But he looked miles off the pace on Saturday, but once he gets up to match speed he'll be ok. I do agree with HLOGI he's never a holding player. He's much more suited to playing in Can or Wij's position.
Wish I had 100m to blow on silver platters of charlie and escorts from Surinam!

I don't go in for the club captain nonsense, puts pressure on the manager and also the player to be selected regardless of form and Henderson is now officially with a chronic foot condition and more often than not doesn't play at his best. He's a hard runner (when fit) but mostly not a lot more. Pick a captain on the day from the starting eleven, the squad should be full of unofficial leaders in any case and am wearing (or not wearing) an armband shouldn't change that. But if we thought it would bring out the best in Lovren,Matip or Mignolet then give it to one of them for a while.

After Moreno and Lovren (and possibly Mignolet), Henderson is the next one i'd be happy to replace.

Along with several others, Henderson was absolutely shocking on Saturday.

Do you think the coutinho nonsense had an effect? I do. Cant have helped. I know it was only pre season but we looked good and well prepared to them performing like that.
