There's (unofficial) speculation that, depending how much disruption there is, next season could see regional premier leagues so say a Northern Premier League and Southern Premier League to cope with fixture congestion in the event of a second wave later in the year.

Health officials believe this approach may be saving lives. The fatality rate for coronavirus in South Korea is 0.7%. Globally the World Health Organization has reported 3.4% - but scientists estimate that the death rate is lower because not all cases are reported

Smells like bullshit to me. They are trying to change the narrative now and it's up to the rest of us to put massive pressure on them now to change their ways. We've had a number of viruses come out of the same part of the world, all related to their wet markets and ways they treat endangered animals. The results are catastrophic, our economies are going to be in the toilet, and no PC tipping around the subject is going to change things. I think Trump is bang on the money calling it the Chinese Virus. It's got nothing to do with xenophobia and everything to do with pinpointing what government has allowed this whole shit show to happen.

We should all be a whole lot more pissed off about this than our medias are portraying.

And if we need a history lesson lets look.at SARS from Wikipedia:

'In late May 2003, studies from samples of wild animals sold as food in the local market in Guangdong, China, found a strain of SARS coronavirus could be isolated from masked palm civets (Paguma sp.), but the animals did not always show clinical signs. The preliminary conclusion was the SARS virus crossed the xenographic barrier from palm civet to humans, and more than 10,000 masked palm civets were killed in Guangdong Province. The virus was also later found in raccoon dogs (Nyctereuteus sp.), ferret badgers (Melogale spp.), and domestic cats. In 2005, two studies identified a number of SARS-like coronaviruses in Chinese bats.[14][15] Phylogenetic analysis of these viruses indicated a high probability that SARS coronavirus originated in bats and spread to humans either directly or through animals held in Chinese markets'.

    Ring a bell?
I agree with you in terms of them seriously needing to get their shit together, they need to sort out their treatment of people alongside their trade in illegal animals that has brought the world to a almost halt. They are a sinister nation who are wholly untrustworthy and other countries need to look at how to trade with them in future.
It sounds very simplistic but do you ever imagine a pandemic of this scale ever originating in the western world? I dont. Their ways of life in terms of cleanliness and what they eat are questionable.
Asia and India will never, ever, ever get a licence to sell and market pharmaceutical drugs in the west for those reasons. They simply cannot ever be allowed to.
I don't blame Trump for batting it back to them after their cynical insinuations regarding the US military bringing the virus over. He was never going to take that on the chin.
I don't agree with your nuke comment though and hope its tongue firmly in cheek.

Think it may even be lower than 0.7% in reality. Here with have just over 100 deaths from 2500+ official cases, which sounds high, but the scientists are saying it's more likely the actual figures are between 35,000 and 50,000 infected already.

They are a magnificent Nation, full of many wonderful, ingenious and sincere people, often much more heartbreakingly kind spirited than our own people. They are ruled by the Communist Party of China, which has become more sinister in recent years and oppresses its own people and other peoples around the world.

Dealing with their evil dictatorship requires hard headedness (and should cause a moment of reflection in the minds of all you revolutionary socialist types) but we must not become hard hearted towards its people.

Yes I fully agree that they are but they have ways of life that are questionable and it's not insular or racist to suggest so.
The sad thing for them is their government. They would embrace freedom with everything they have but how that comes about is another thing completely.
I read recently that Chinas stoic communism comes from a deep rooted fear and mistrust of the west after they were "had over" so many times during the opium wars/100 years war around that time. Probably the same reason Russia isnt too dissimilar.

Communism has also knocked the spirituality out of the culture so they are more prone to extreme materialism too, which causes greed, obsession with status and lack of care for others.
All peoples seem to reach for communism when they have suffered economically, especially from corruption and subjugation as the Chinese did. But it always, without fail, ends in misery.

Oddly, China has lifted more people out of poverty since embracing ‘capitalism’ than has happened at any other time in history, but they still have the mind control and lack of freedom of communist rule. I’ve spent a fair amount of time there and it is a heavy and oppressive place to live.
