Your team v Atletico Madrid (Champion's League, 2nd leg)

"We come to it at last - the great battle of our time" - Gandalf

    We know one thing.

Atletico will be bang up for this.

But so will we - Anfield under the lights and (praise be!) fresh off the back of a win against Bournemouth.

The tie is in a difficult balance - Atletico scoring one goal means we would need three against an incredibly stubborn defence. It poses questions -

Do we try to keep it balanced/tight with a view to a 1-0 match we take into extra-time?
If we find ourselves 2-0 up do we push hard for a third, or try to see the game out?
Do we go out with intent to absolutely blitz them early doors, knowing that incredible rewards could come at the cost of serious risk to our back line?

Henderson is rumoured to be making a come-back for this match, but for the sake of my selection, I am assuming he's out - if he's available, I would want him in the no. 6.

    ........................Alisson

    Trent......Gomez.......Van Dijk........Robertson

    .......................Wijnaldum

    ............Milner...............Keita

    ...Salah.............Firmino.............Mane

Come on Reds - an early goal would create a raucous Anfield crowd and we need the Twelfth Man more than we have in a long while.

    Same 11 as Skyebo

    ..............Alisson
    TAA Gomez VVD Robertson
    ..Milner Fabinho Wijnaldum
    .....Salah Firmino Mane

    Subs:
Adrian, Matip/Lovren, 2 of Hendo/Keita/Lallana in that order, Oxlade, Minamino, Origi.

Guessing/Hoping that Alisson and Robbo will be available to start.

Hendo upto Klopp, given he's not played since injury I'm edging towards he starts on the bench. Same with Keita and Matip cant see Klopp dropping them in for such a big game with no minutes under their belt of late.

A massive game, think we'll rise to the occasion. 3-1

    Yep sid

    Depends on Hendo and Ali ;
    Oxlade/Fabinho in ...

Back 5 and front 3 most definitely
Even if I think especially front 3 needs some competition/ werner and Sancho

    Midfield conundrum

Not my choice but most likely if fit

Fabinho is only starting based on him being brilliant last season, he's a very lucky boy IMO.
If Henderson isn't fit then Jimmy starts instead.

Let's get ready to stretch Atletico's arseholes, they love a bit of Chorizo in them. I hope the Anfield crowd is a damn site more ready and up for it than they were today, contesting every decision in vociferous unison

I'd start Matip all day long, Gomez is looking increasingly like and accident waiting to happen, got bummed by Jiminez, the West Ham lad at the corner, Giroud v Chelsea, I really don't fancy him up against Costa, should have been a matter of urgency to get Matip our Champions League specialist fit for the Champions League once we knew the draw, not idea whatsoever what Jurgen was thinking bringing Lovren in rather than Matip v Watford.

If I had to pick a RCB to play against Kane, Deeney, Giroud, Costa or Jiminez from our 3 who play there it would be Matip every single day of the week by a considerable distance
