    Playing the percentages

I thought there was a thread on this, but I can't find it on a search

We need video analysis and coaching work on this pretty urgently as our players complete absence of any understanding of what it entails in the appropriate positions to employ it has been going on far FAR too long

The nature of the coaching and video analysis needs to demonstrate all 100's of positions we waste every single season in which there is a massively crowded penalty area in a low block, and either Trent or Robbo is released in the box in an inside left or right position, we have 2 or 3 players central, perfectly placed to hold their position and to try and react first to pounce on any parry or save by the keeper to steer it home

It needs to be explained that trying to pick any of those players out with a pass from the positions Trent or Robbo have been released in has a desperately low percentage of success and we know this because we try it every fucking time and score about 1 in every 200 or more times we attempt it

It needs to be drilled into our players that in these positions, drilling the ball on target low and hard to whichever side of the keeper we have the most players in great positions to bundle any parry home in is the right course of action

Scotland trailing 2-1 to Ukraine in their WC play off game, 7 minutes left, ball drops to Robbo on his right foot in a crowded box, he fails to play the percentages and have a crack

    Lessons are so desperately needed

The analysis dept can show the one of Fab with a gaping goal at his mercy v City taking a touch on his left instead of going first time and the chance for a late LATE winner being lost in their compilation too, as that's part of it, trusting your weaker foot when there isn't time for a touch

Souness coming out saying even if Scotland win, they should allow Ukraine to go through. Might as well give them the World Cup whilst they're at it.

If I wasn't already sick of Ukraine and anything in blue and yellow.

I genuinely don't think it is. This whole bullshit about keeping politics out of sport when players, clubs and nations raised the Palestinian flag. Now it's ok? Come on, I expected better from you as the regular voice of justice.

Not one person on here spoke up about the plight of Palestinians and their endless apartheid. Don't get me started as I've said what I think about Ukraine and their bullshit propaganda
