They did have much more quality in depth than everyone else though hence their dominance of the era. Liverpool had some excellent 11s around that time under Ged that maybe just lacked a little sparkle that the other 2 had.
Arsenal were one signing ( Henry) from only having 2 titles in that era instead of 4 and could have sunk or been runners up constantly. He was a game changer for them and kept them competitive, without him Utd would have pissed the lot without a challenge.
United were winning titles with the likes of Phil Neville, John O'Shea, Darren Fletcher, Darren Gibson, David Bellion, Van De Gouw, Massimo Taibi et al...
Where their strength was, was having 4 top forwards.
They were streets ahead of everyone, but their squad wasnt anywhre near as strong as Chelsea's current squad.
