He's an excellent keeper and has shown himself to be useful in a penalty shootout as well.
It's also an investment in ourselves. Keep your highly-rated back-up keeper happy and it's easier to keep him. For all we know we could be looking back in 5-6 years time and he is our first choice, with this League Cup run being seen as the start of that journey.
Fully appreciate the "Alisson is better and a trophy is at stake, therefore...." mindset but it's what Klopp had gone with and if it keeps Kelleher happy with us for when he is genuinely needed (Alisson injury) it will be a lot better to have him around, rather than the likes of Adrian versus Atletico.
Tough one. He helped get us here though. I'm quietly content with the decision.
