If their fans could be patient (they can't) then the right Manager and smarter recruitment could see them manage a 5-year turnaround starting with a 4th-place finish, maybe three seasons of 3rd/4th or whatever and then a decent tilt - the money is there to supplement that - but they are just not in any sort of position to rebuild within the context of such a toxic following and it does provide a good chuckle, particularly if you spent the 90s and 00s taking crap from their supporters.
