Match Thread: Aston Villa v Liverpool

    Liverpool XI v Villa

    Alisson
    Trent Quansah Van Dijk Gomez
    Elliott Endo Mac Allister
    Salah Gakpo Diaz

Subs: Kelleher, Konate, Szoboszlai, Nunez, Jones, Tsimikas, Bajcetic, Bradley.

One or two big money signings struggling to get starts as the season comes to a close.

Konate, Szoboszlai and Nunez all need to do much, much more if they want a long career with Liverpool

    Team confirmed:

    Alisson

    Trent Quansah Van Dijk Gomez

    Elliott Endo Mac Allister

    Salah Gakpo Diaz

    Let’s do this!

Quansah better have had some help, because Watkins strength is where his weakness for letting players run of the back of him lies I expect Watkins to be playing on his shoulder looking to be released off the back of him throughout

    Let’s get the win

Konate & Nunez have been harshly treated

I find it really odd that Quansah continues as the majority of the goals we’ve conceded the past fees games have mostly been down to him, the error, Richarlison running off the back of him, & but for Alisson & Gomez he’d have got a second, Antonio running off the back of him,Bowen running into a space right by him for a free header, the ball to Fernandez, backing off & hiding effectively trying to have a midfielder deal with Mainoo there are too many examples

Konate has been played when clearly not fit & was brilliant up until picking up an injury, he is unfortunately a bit like Jota in he can take a few games to get back up to speed

Konate is a lad who has played 1v1 often 1v2 against some of the worlds best forwards in the Prem & Champions League magnificently so many times for us, his ability is hugely superior to Quansah’s fitness & injuries are his only issues

His constant niggling injuries certainly don’t help him get into a rhythm but that’s all part of being a top level footballer, staying fit.

His last couple of performances were terrible, bullied all game in the derby and that’s nothing to do with rhythm.

I wouldn’t playing a Derby in which the bitters are allowed to persistently foul our lads & they are penalised for fouls that aren’t & simply not allowed to fight back or embrace the fight in is a good measure for anything
