    They sell very well, which is easier to do the higher up the Pyramid you are.

    We are quite good at making top-up funds from "lesser" players like Ibe and Brewster but not as good with selling our stars - a few have seen out their contracts. Grabara there (who?) was sold to Wolfsburg and years ago we had negotiated a sell-on clause so we saw 20% of the sale (not much at £2.3m) for someone that many Reds will never have heard of. If you conduct a bunch of those you can afford the Endo type signings on the back of what looks like negligible income. Not the only way to do business of course, but those little top-ups are great.

    Rio Ferdinand £199M (£29M in 02/03)
    Fernando Torres £182M (£50M in 10/11)
    Alan Shearer £178M (£15M in 96/97)
    Wayne Rooney £177 (£25.6M in 04/05)
    Moises Caicedo (£115M) would only rank #31on the list
    and Enzo Fernandez (£107M) comes in at #41.

    If you created a first Xl by position, Chelsea would have seven out of the eleven.

    I've picked out Blackburn 92-93 Shearer to Backburn for £3.3 mill - inflated £106.1 mill

    So a caicedo/Fernández cost about the same as him.

    Keane to united 93/94 £3.8 -> £104.4

    Luis Suarez 10/11 £22.4 -> £81.4

    Some other players bought by LFC inflated fee's
    (Inmillsobviously)

    Torres -> £136.7
    Andy Carroll -> £126
    Heskey -> £98.3
    Benteke -> £93.6
    Cisse -> £92.3
    VVD £91.9
    Collymore -> £99.3
    Downing -> £88.5
    Alisson -> £86.9
    Darwin -> £85
    Bobby -> £82 5
    Didi Hamann -> £77
    Glen Johnson -> £76.5
    Babb -> £75.6
    Robbie Keane -> 75.5
    Alonso -> £74.3
    Masch -> £70.8
    Hendo -> £69.8
    Keita -> £68.4

    Lallana, Diouf, Paul Stewart, Razor Ruddock, Mane £63.7....
    Kuyt, Babel, Allen, Ince, Sobozla, N.Clough, L.Diaz £58....
    Scales, Fabinho, McAteer, MacAllister, Lovren, Jota, Lazar£53
    Studge, Ovyind, J.Dicks, Ox.....

    Mo Salah £48.4 mill

    Salah costing £39.5 mill, cost almost twice as much as Suarez £22.4 and almost half as much as Suarez with their adjusted inflation fees

    Moreno 34 mill left back.. and I'm off on my most expensive best 11 of players bought by LFC.

    Alisson*
    G.Johnson Babb VVD* Moreno
    Cisse Hamann* Alonso* Downing
    Carroll Torres*

    Conclusion =
    low net spending > big net spending

    Judging by keanes and shearers reported inflated value there must have been serious inflation between 92 and 93

    Trevor Francis would be worth 253 million today by football inflation.

    What about lentini to Milan in early 90s. That was a massive fee. 13m or something. Has to be up there.

    Its PL purchases, so won't have players sold out of the league on it.

    If we say Keane/Shearer rise to 100 mill from less than 4 mill,
    Say 350 mill for Lentini

    3.3*1.1515 = 3.8 (in one year)

    Do that for 30 years and it's around 250 mill.

    By their list £5 mill in 94/95 -> 86.8 mill

    At the 1.15 annual increase * 5 mill = 400 mill Say
