You might actually expect more Lesbians to be among the elite women's footballers ranks, than you would gays in the men's rank. It's a matter of biological variation between the groups.

In this sense loosely, homosexuality emerges as a phenomenon to correct the breeding rates. In an age where technology produced abundance and decreased mortality rates, homosexuality can be seen as an emergent tool to limit breeding and population numbers.

Interestingly the current Western world having removed a lot of the longstanding evolutionary pressures, sees its population decline. There's also the emergence of ethnic/racial wombfare, which we see in Northern Ireland materialise.
Even outsourcing reproduction to the developing world.

Refusing to procreate themselves (including heterosexuals), reproduction is imported from other parts of the world.
For other countries this is not a desirable outcome.
Firstly there are likely very few Ukrainians marching into Senegal, Somalia as they haven't got the financial appeal to entice refugees/migrants.
Secondly they might not like to lose their lands and people as the native Americans did, or as the Western world will become in the future. They might like the idea of being a unique culture, peoples and lands.
