All these midfielders? Do they fit the klopp model? Would they remain fit under klopps demands?

We bid for him on the final day, if Laimer himself is to be believed. He didn't want to come.

I think he will go to Bayern.

Your job is to plug the gaps and run a lot, double as fullbacks and centrebacks when they come forward into your space or move out when forwards come into your space, enjoy that new space and still hopefully have a decent pass left in the tank. Leave the offensive to the attack or attacking defenders . And don't get injured! You are just midfielders!

That’s a shame. Leipzig press aggressively so he would probably fit with Klopp.

At least we (allegedly) bid for him mind - and indeed Caicedo - given that a bone of contention is an apparent lack of desire to spend.

This summer was a failure as I see it, overall they are good enough owners. But they need the team to do better and need to invest a little more on the squad. Like a 100 mill net

This was a summer where we knew city would be changing up their squad somewhat. A good time for us to push them even harder as with change comes new challenges.

We were changing our own squad a bit too. We are at, or towards , the end of 19s era and it's up to Klopp to build him a new one

But we've failed to make significant gains overall this summer sadly. This aspect of changing our squad can't be criticised too much in what we've actually done lately, but what we've failed to do is fair game. And has been discussed a lot. Midfield, net spend, ffp, accounts.

Below is a net spend table in millions from 18/19 to 22/23
5 seasons, that was correct prior to deadline day.
    City €209.06
    LFC £212.57
    Chelsea £309.22
    Spurs €368.28
    Arsenal £440.4
    Manu £545.31

We and city fairly close on paper.

In 2018/19 remember our net spend was £126.79 million.
    Klopps big sumer spending window
This is important to remember with amortisation in accounting.

Since that summer, Klopps had £85.78 million of net spend on the squad over 4 seasons.
    £21.45 mill a season for 4 seasons.

Pep has done similar with net spend over these 5 seasons. Boosted by a net profit this summer.
But over the 3 previous seasons.

    15/16 to 17/18 Net Spend
    Mancity 546.83 million
    LFC 17.66 million
    All off transfermarkt ^^

Our revenues are up markedly since BRs time at the club £32.36 mill his last seasons net spend.
The last 3 years of BR averaged at 34.1 mill per season.

£197.87 net spent under Klopp himself in his 7th full season. His first 2 seasons, 2 small net profits on net spend.

£28.27 Mill a season on average for Klopp. Less than Rodgers with significant inflation in the market and our revenues up sharply.

Klopp creaming in CL money like few PL managers ever have, 1 EL final in his first part season & 3 CL finals going into his 7th full season, continued top 4 finishes and qualifying out of the groups regularly.
Wages as a percentage of turnover relatively stable, reducing with amortisation of contracts Salah aside. Infrastructure paying for itself by and large. Commercial & Broadcast up, Anfield expanding.

The club is very well run by the books, lots of positives even though this summer window was a missed opportunity strategically.

The positivity of last seasons onfield exploits was met with a basic bitch of an off season, as the yanks would call it.
It started quite brightly and ended rather glumly amidst an injury crisis.

Not giving up on any titles yet myself, Jurgen has a spoil of talent in other areas at present. They do look like they're still in preseason though.

But what a pack of tight arses spoiling the off season and costing the #brand with #kevativity and klopp with activity.
Our net spend £8.64 mill for the summer after a booming season.

We supposedly also tried to sign Douglas Luiz but he only wanted to go to Arsenal according to reports and our offer was rejected.

    Interesting, thank you.

So if reports are accurate we attempted Luiz, Caicedo and Laimer (obviously with a view to one arrival, not three) - January and next Summer will be an intriguing watch. Our forward and defensive options are largely good - midfield the glaring problem area.

Meanwhile according to the article on Echo, Liverpool FC will have a club Pre tax profit of around 76M but we can't sign a midfield (only on loan) or we can't expand a lot more Anfield...
