Our summer transfer 'strategy' tell us that investment is but a far distant fantasy...

They have shown beyond any doubt that they simply cannot afford a successful Liverpool FC. Klopp has worked miracles yet we never once took more than 1 of the big prizes in a season - the season prior to this - the lads almost killing themselves chasing 4..

But even that - taking a single major on 2 occasions was enough to put us into jeopardy.

Unable to facilitate the salaries involved in keeping the staff on performance related pay while finding the fees and salaries needed to keep procuring the same quality. This despite record revenues. Gigantic TV deals and huge sponsorships off the back of so much relentless work. A side, in truth performing way beyond its actual level...champions league football - quarter finals, Semi finals - finals ...again and again. Was anyone busting a gut to get the manager what he needed..? No fucking chance... Make do and go again.. until you collapse.. which is what we did TWICE...

The nations most successful club with the best manager on planet earth in situ for nearly 8 years….!

multiple miracles performed yet still we require massive investment from a position outside the top 4.

But for city cheating, abetted by football authorities and CAS, we'd likey have won 4 PL titles and made it to 4 European finals as we have under Klopp.
Who knows with 3 more league titles under our belt how recruitment might have been better impacting those CL finals in Klopps favour. Personally it looks like Carlo outfoxes Klopp head to head.
We've managed to win 1 CL, WCC, PL, FA, EFL, even a charity shield. And during this time some reasonable expansion of Anfield has occurred. Etc. It's like you look at LFC, where Klopp is beyond doubt notionally, the owners are the massive problems and that's it.

    Doesn't wash sadly..

City cheating has had no bearing on us being beaten over 6 games by both Madrid sides (2 Real CL finals and knockouts and 2 legs v Atleti) plus a final v Sevilla. One could easily say - thank god for Spurs and that penalty.

Can't compete but wont sell, resulting in the depreciation of their "asset" and a lower price when they sell.
Holding onto LFC for the kudos and the money.

At our zenith - we had a team that could do amazing things - We had 4 or 5 world class players and all needed to be fit. That's the point - so much depending on a miraculously long injury free periods to any of our key players. The 2 failure seasons a mirror of the 2/3 big winning years.

This is the point. Despite proving that they could win big - money was never forthcoming to beef up the squad. Players were asked to play more and more games with no genuine backup or rival on the bench.

The inevitable result is what has happened. The miracle of the late title defence season surge - minus Virgil - Matip - Gomez & Henderson - simply used by the owners as proof that the squad was deeper than it really was. So when the boys fought like lions for a quad - they were so badly smashed as to be potentially un recoverable..

    This is where we are.

So true.. But we are far and away their biggest asset. The only mega global brand on their books. We are the collateral they use to increase their portfolio. Remember Billionaires don't use their own money - they buy assets and leverage them to buy more assets. We are effectively held captive.

Even the very richest of the rich do it... So much starts with avoiding tax..
