England confirm acceptance of mediocrity by allowing Southgate to continue

Well, it's an absolute farce Southgate gets to continue as England manager

The Lionesses won the women's Euros because they employed a top manager, a current one not a former great, with experience of winning top trophies, Southgate and his Captain, his choice in this regard personifying Southgate's own shortfallings as a serial loser, not moreso than blazing a crucial second penalty high into the night sky v France

England will never win anything with Southgate as manager, nothing

England were half decent when they belatedly switched to playing the 433 it was obvious any manager worth their salt would have employed from day one with that group of players, because it suits all of their strengths and is a system most of them play at club level

You have to balance things out, you can't compromise your ability to hurt teams and win games through your offensive talent by making a poor choice of formation because you have a weakness at CB, trying to do so at all immediately identified Southgate as a loser not prepared to take the necessary risks to be successful as a manager at any level and not able to instill the necessary intensity, drive and belief in his players as his successful proven winner female counterpart is able to

Even in the game v France it was all too evident, Walker has played 1v1 against MBappe successfully a few times in the Champions League with his club side, playing as he would against any other team, that's what was needed, but he compromised the balance of the team and attacking potential of the team by focusing far too much on keeping MBappe quiet, you don't win top honours anywhere with such cowardice

Southgate is a spineless, feckless, clueless coward or a manager with absolutely no business whatsoever holding a managerial position in charge of this group of players in international football, he's a loser

Totally agree, said many times over many years, England will win nothing under Southgate, he’s not a winner, doesn’t have a winner’s mentality.
