Correct miller, it's way bigger than just a few mids. I wrote Matip off ( at least counting on him for enough games) before the title defence season. I mentioned THAT sodding summer... 'how do we let Lovren go and not replace him?' The guy played a decent part in both 2019 and 2020 successes. He came in when needed and managed to perform alongside Virgil.. Relying on 1 and 2 half CB's. Matip was making 1 game in 2 for 2019 and 1 in 3 by 2020


A good part of last seasons C change into title form was off the back of Thiago gaining fitness in front of Matip consistently partnering Virgil with our somehow still firing front 3 line.. Even stepped up during the AFCON.. with Jota and Diaz being electric,. They ended up getting close to 2019-2020 levels. But the fact is - F Virgil isn't around, in time, we get totally exposed at the back. It's multiplied 5 times now with no front 3.



Look at this lot below and ask yourselves WHO were the posters who were applauding our transfer work? It stopped in summer 2018. The buying of senior ready made quality to go into or rival first team positions all but stopped then. To date it's just Jota (well under radar) and Thiago...and he was probably the wrong fit for this team and frankly too old!


Lovren 2019 - total mins 1.261
Played in 13 league games only points we dropped were the 2 City games..
Played 3 CL games

Matip 2019 - total mins 2.342
Played in 17 games (not counting the 5 games he got 1 single minute in.) )
Played 8 CL games


Lovren 2020 - total mins - 1.190
Played 8 league games (we won all 8) before his muscle injury.
Played 3 CL games

Matip 2020 - total mins 1.045
Played 9 league games (we won all 8) before his muscle injury.
Played 0 CL games

Summer 2020
Lovren sold and not replaced - madness..
2 players both struggling for fitness but both proving hugely important and you let one go and don’t bother replacing.
Same summer you let Gina go and don’t replace?


Here are Virgils minutes for comparison… And the club geniuses were not worried about making him run out for another 4,000 plus minutes!!! Fucking IDIOTS!!

Lovren and Matip combined is only 6054 minutes.. Did NOBODY think to get Virgil some genuine support? A genuine partner? Jokers...

The ONLY incoming CB since we sold Lovren was KONATE a France under 21!!!!

Midfield and cb have been neglected. Now are both in need of drastic upgrading. That wont be cheap.

We look sorted for the forward line. But, if nunez and gakpo don't start scoring next year we could be in need of a top cf as well.

So basically may need players all over the pitch.

Few mistakes in that huge post you responded to - I have since corrected..

I don't believe the front line is sorted. Nunez can run but can he finish? Diaz's knee is a huge worry and Salah is getting older every day.
