Wonder what the odds are on Chelsea having a "Di Matteo" season.

    Weirder things have happened.

Shame about our heavy defeat against Real - with us finding form and looking at some of the sides left in the Tournament you'd fancy a decent stab at it.

Unfortunately think we have too much too do at the Bernabeu against too mentally strong a side.

Hope we can score first though and make a decent stab at the aggregate score being respectable.

We can turn the Real result around, get a couple of goals and they'll shit it

Certain people won't have it because it's inconvenient to their various narratives, but Gomez and Fab having absolute meltdowns like they did in the 7-2 v Villa is why that result happened They didn't outclass us or outplay us, we just gave them 5 ridiculously soft goals

I'd go with Sunday's team for the next 2 games as i think we can get a lot of joy v Real playing our 18-20 style, with that same directness and intensity and consistently good positioning in our pressing and counter pressing

I know it was only 70 minutes of the game, but the pressing and counter pressing hasn't been that good in any game since before Fab was brought back in v Southampton in 19-20, Hendo still had to bail him out 4 or 5 times, so plenty of room for improvement

To me the loss of our press and counter press ability is the result of trying to be more possession based, overplaying and playing in front of sides

In pressing and counter pressing as we played it through 18-20 ALL of our players were constantly communicating verbally and visually, checking their positions, the oppisitions and their team mates, so we were always defending while attacking, having great positioning from our players not involved in the attack to counter press, win any second balls and stop tdams getting possession, playing out or countering while attacking when defending with the positioning for counters of our own

Trying to play a more possession passing game you lose too much of that because too many players are trying to move into space and then aren't in good positions to counter press, stop counters and win second balls, it's precisely why sides were playing through us and scoring so easy and first so frequently

The Villa result was about Adrian not being a sweeper keeper and us still playing the high line at the back.
Also three of their goals were wicked deflections. Three!

Intriguing start to Bayern v PSG.

Has the feel of a mid-late 2000s tie in Europe where it could become a Chess match rather than an end-to-end game.

PSG playing with a back five, Bayern with a back three.

Wonder how long PSG can keep Bayern out.

De Ligt with a wonderful goal-line clearance after the keeper had a total brain fart by taking his time at the back.

PSG bring on a 17 year old centre back to replace the substitute centre back Mukiele who replaced the injured Marquinhos 15 minutes before half time, lol....
