    Arsenal 1-1 Sporting

Cracking goal, cracking game, put home like one of Hendo's 19-20 balls over the top

That driven up and down ball like that is so fucking hard to defend, by the virtue of how it moves, most medium to longer passes are flighty, stay in the air too long and take an even loop up and down, that ball driven with backspin gets there quicker, goes up and down quicker and unevenly it goes up in a straight line and comes down very quickly in a much steeper straight line - It can do defenders on the edge of their own area as it did so many times in 19-20 because it does drop very quickly and very steeply where you want it to when hit right

Firmness of pass + level of back spin + air resistance is what does it, a lot of players don't seem able to play it to a high level

I've not seen the stab through ball for years now, I thought we might see it from Thiago show boater, but it seems he doesn't have it or the ball driven with backspin in his otherwise extensive repertoire

I'm sure some here must have seen it, it's the one where you whack it to get it through the channel, but with a stab action, through the lower part of the ball to a point, but without lifting it, like you're hitting the cue ball on a snooker or pool table to get screw back, the effect is you get zip through the channel to get it through then at a point the backspin makes in slow down really quickly so your player can reach it before the keeper

Arsenal have improved lot, but with CIty having had to battle us right to the end of so many season with some assistance from officials to stop the scousers winning more titles I might add you think City will run out winners in the end, even after we've beaten them at the Emptyhad

I don't think Arsenal are secure, I don't think they're as fragile as the filthy, but I think like the filthy, if they do suffer 2 consecutive set backs their high confidence levels will drop very quickly and their form with it

The only thing I think might se Arsenal win it is officials, we won the top division three times in a row, the filthy are the only club to win the Prem 3 times in a row, I wouldn't be surprised to see officials try and prevent City equalling that feat, given they were the only reason the filthy achieved it in the first place

Veron was brilliant at those sort of passes until he put on a united shirt. Scholes?

Oh yeah, I forgot Veron, he did used to play that stab pass, until he joined the filthy, not enough of that in the game anymore and barely any of it at all that actually produces any end product

I am a bit conflicted like that, I want to see those type of passes and others, but I only like them is they're useful as in they produce something, I can't marvel at a pass or any piece of technique unless it is of practical use

I'd always favour a really effective pass with lesser technique, than one with incredible technique that is less effective

Lubo moravcik or hagi were amazing at those passes. Modern ball is a piece of shit so near impossible execute

Extra time here, Saka diving as usual, it's been so long and they've bene doing so well most people have probably forgotten we were robbed by 2 blatantly wrong decisions in our first meeting with Arsenal this season

Some might disagree, but I also thought we were robbed by Fulham too, I just didn't think there was the necessary 'meaningful contact' for Mitrovic to throw himself to ground, people bust WWE moves on Mo and always used to on Mane and we never got anything for them, no way we'd get pens if our players went down with no meaningful contact like in those 2 games

I still think they're doable, greater degree of difficulty with the ball being a lot lighter for sure

Moravcik. Now that’s a player I’d forgotten. What a player.
