Not much point in going to a tournament , siting on the bench while Calvin Phillips lines up with Rice. I hope he is overlooked personally, although it would be difficult for Southgate not to take him, now all the media are creaming themselves over Trent, the same ones who were saying he was a liability six months ago.
Agree - Selfishly I hope he gives them the 2 fingers.. And Gareth and his waistcoat are a bad omen for our players..

Looked a better bet than 'Playmaker and dead-ball specialist' Maddison.

I couldn't recall a Trent thread younger than this one, so apologies if I missed it when doing a scroll, but if there is one thing Trent needs to retire from, it's defending set pieces like this -

Where’s the Your team v West Ham Sid?

I didn’t click the link I’m guessing it’s the Cvl goal from the set piece None of our lads seemed organised Jurgen said we’d trained to defend that corner as they’d done it all season I’d be interested to learn who was supposed to be where & why thr captain & Alisson hadn’t organised them to be where they were supposed to be between them

    It's up now.

I couldn't be bothered with any vitriol if I had put it up "too soon" and felt there was a bit of dissection/venting required by many post-Everton so I held off a bit.

As to the link, it's Trent specifically.

    Watching it is......something.

I am no fan of the "body language expert" stuff as it is so overdone and people go so overboard, but he really does look like a fella who is believing his own hype at times and/or Bellingham has had a word where it should be the other way around.

If he wants to "defend" like that on a regular basis they can have him.

But that's just Trent being Trent, though.
He's always been awful like that and those of us that dared say it before would get stick for being haters.

How do you look at something like that as a professional footballer and not be epically embarrassed.

    -Defending corners and set-pieces 101.
    -Guard the back post.
-Don't let the opposition player or the man you're marking get in front of you or have positional advantage.
-Make it hard for them to get to the header or the ball.

He does none of that and doesn't even bother looking like he's triyng.

The breakdown the guy does in the reponse to that tweet just sums up all his flaws in one neat package.

The ball-watching. The laziness. The lack of positional awareness or concentration. The eagerness to go forward even before the mess is cleared at the back. The massive gaps left where he should be.....

As far as I'm concerned, the best RB defender (....and increasingly,.. overall) at the club is Conor Bradley and that position should be his by right until he suffers a massive drop in form or if he's injured like now, in which case the number 1 cover should be Gomez.

I'd much rather a youngster who's going to bust a gut trying and blow his lungs out giving his all because he still doesn't believe the position's his and has everything to prove, than the 'Hollywood' Joe that thinks he's made it and he's the shit.

On Trent and Szobo & Nunez their issues on set pieces is a management & coaching issue

I know all 3 have lapses at set pieces, so you coach it better or use other players in critical positions
