Convinced it's just to have a talking point most of the time to drive views on the eventual YouTube upload, which will drive comments and subscribers and on and on the wheel spins.

Put it this way - if it IS given I think most would say "what's Thiago meant to do there?" - like is he meant to put his arm behind his back and take a hard (unbroken) fall to the ribs/face/shoulder and risk an injury?
