I’ll hold my hands up and say for many months I said on this forum I wanted jones gone , however in defense he never passed anywhere but backwards , this new role and forward thinking mentality has unearthed a player

It's funny you should say this - his early performances suggested a real forward-thinking player and I remember feeling he was being coached to play "safer" as he would often get games in the "Wijnaldum" role for us - his job often seemed to be to always be available and to keep it fairly simple.

He's been thriving in our recent set-up. If he can stay fit next season I guess we'll get a better indication of exactly what "type" of player he is.
