Joyce claims that Pochettino tried to get her m.to sign for Chelsea at the last minute.

Argentinian connection obviously wasn't enough. Nor indeed Poch's trophy cabinet. Diddums.

On another note - shots per 90, all midfielders from the Premier League, 22/23 season -

    1. Ødegaard: 2.68
    2. Mac Allister: 2.49
    3. De Bruyne: 2.42

Hopefully get a couple of goals from outside the box from him in 23/24.

Good news, will need to learn to run a bit more as Thiago had to

I like that he's quite versatile positionally because i still think the box midfield with Trent tweak is something for certain opposition and stages of games, i think we lose too much of what having the league's best 2 attacking full backs has always given us and too much of the right to left switches and diagonals as part of making our play from various positions on our right from Trent

As a cautionary note, we need to remember Jurgen's tweaks meaning Trent was seeing far less of the ball in those positions is why it stopped working, nothing else and Nunez and Diaz on his return and Robbo for that matter desperately missed that service from those areas from Trent

Switches and those diagonals remain a highly efficient way of stretching the play and opening sides up and always will

For me he's a like for like replacement for Ox. So already we're ahead of where we were last season!

Will be interesting to see how he is used as he's not an industrious worker like our other midfielders. He's a lot more attacking and direct (like Ox). Either one more defensive type midfielder and I'l be happy enough . If we get another two in, i think Klopp will be completely overhauling the midfield.

Just have two extra fit and capable midfielders to replace Ox and Keita will be huge. If Thiago / Henderson / Fab / Jones / Elliot become rotation rather than starters, we'll have enough strength in depth in terms of quality and numbers.

    NEW MID
    Thaigo
    Henderson
    Fab
    Jones
    Bajcetic
    Elliot

And this is even before we talk about Trent in midfield...

The real intrigue for me will be if we bring in a new CB.
We definitely need to, Neil Jones made good points earlier in the week when talking about Matip. Saying that he doesn't see the point letting him go if we don't bring in someone better but also hasn't seen any evidence that Gomez is leaving. Spoke about Pavard, one to watch but would be surprised if we signed him but if we bring in a CB it'll very likely be one that can deputise at RB too.
