You have to love the way FSG have managed to spin it into such a huge deal after not wanting to spend the money for Bellingham...
.Bellingham and Big Mac would have been something to crow about...

Let's hope he actually ends up being a better move than Bellingham.

I don't think anyone would (or should) be using Mac Allister as a yard stick when it comes to being a "better move" than Bellingham - as an individual.

What may in time vindicate walking away from the Bellingham move is if we get 2 (or 3) transfers done with what would have been the Bellingham money - and we can't assess that until after the window closes, then again at the end of the 23/24 season.

It may prove wise to have walked away - it may prove foolish. We don't yet know and thus should not yet judge.

In the interim I would just enjoy the fact that a very promising player that featured in a World Cup winning side has come to Liverpool for what looks like less than the current market value and boasts an excellent injury record to accompany Premier League experience, when not so long ago our fans clamoured for "just buy a mid, ANY mid will do" - you'll have more enjoyment.

If he does sit out time through injury then you can definitely come to conclusion that something is very wrong at LFC in that respect.

HMMM ...But thats when we thought there would be a bidding war and bellingham would be going for 130 mill plus.... We've been saving money for a stellar signing for a cojple of seasons.....why couldn't we afford 115 mil? they are taking the fukin piss out of us...... Further than my original post .....lets not forget that the stellar signing they let us contemplate the summer b4 was mbop....theres a pattern...and they take us for fools

Regards your last point - is there any actual evidence to suggest that FSG "let us contemplate Mbappe" - besides having no control over fans having dreams, was someone "high up" at the club meant to have a word with a journalist and say "put something out so our fans realise Mbappe isn't happening" - sites like the Echo etc will have LOVED that we never shut up about marquee targets as it would always get them more clicks.

John Henry doesn't twiddle his thumbs malevolently celebrating that he tricked us into thinking we were getting a player. Fans get carried away and it would be downright odd if they didn't - at the end of every season (and before every new one) the Table is wiped clean and every fan from every Football club thinks they are capable of targets relevant to their stature, whether it's a promotion push or a Champion's League finish or a title challenge or a particular player.

    Just part of the Circus.

As to the possibility of Bellingham for £115m, it could simply be that the Club didn't want to be sinking such a huge wedge into a teenager and further catalysing the "football inflation" process given the type of targets we typically go for. If we buy Bellingham at £115m or more then the next target who should cost £35m ends up costing £50m and so on - we have no control over what other clubs do but we can take it upon ourselves to make intelligent long-term decisions and (conjecture of course) that may have been what we did with Jude.

Had we signed Jude last summer for £100 Mill we probably make CL qualification this term.

Dropping out of the CL next term will likely cost us about the same in revenue, as it would have cost LFC to sign Bellingham.

EL football brings in far less prize money, and TV money, whilst it will likely have impacts on sponsorship payments.

The arguments you made last summer about midfiled were very poorly formulated with respect to reality, and it seems you are carrying on similalrly again.

Where’s the £85m we supposedly offered for Touchy Feely last summer?
