    Offside law changing

    From Give Me Sport

FIFA to trial major change to the offside rule following Arsene Wenger suggestion.

At present, a player is deemed to be offside if any part of their body with which they can play the ball is ahead of the last defender.

This has frequently meant that players have been ruled offside by VAR over the most ridiculously small margins, something that many observers - including Wenger - feel goes against the spirit of the game.

Under the altered laws, players will only be flagged offside where their entire body, with which they can play the ball, is ahead of the last defender.

How it should have always been IMO

Far better interpretation of the offside law.

I imagine it will result in more goals being scored

Like changing deckchairs on the titanic. But seems a fairer rule. theManc cheating officials will still mess it up though

Sounds highly entertaining but also potentially a nightmare for defenders - will be interesting to see how individuals tweak their game as time goes on.

Wonder how this will affect Salah (22 offsides) and Nunez (17 offsides)

Most offsides in the league last season was old man Vardy (29)

So there now needs to be daylight between attacker and defender at moment ball is played? Did we not go down this route before yrs ago? Expect VAR to fuck around with the timing of the fwd pass in that case to get the result that suits them lol.
