Should I not own a car and therefore be unable to do the one job I can manage with my mental health just in case some of my petrol came from Saudi Arabia? We each have to put up with a certain degree of moral quandary in life when buying clothes or ethically sourced food etc and some lines will be ones that one doesn't cross. Doesn't mean the UK and US don't require substantial improvement.

Is every human rights abuse committed in Saudi Arabia to be analysed through contextual parameters of "ah, but the West did X in the past" going forward?

If you want to get someone "on side" I'd suggest by not opening with calling them brain-washed, programmed and conditioned or "don't talk until...." - you're not likely to make a lot of progress beyond point-scoring or presenting an air of condescension - both of which would likely prove to be barriers to the education you may wish to make on the matter.

For heavens sake - how many human rights abuses take place in the US or this nation? Every day? Do you know? Have you seen it on the telly? Read about it on your favourite silicon valley owned and controlled Social media outlet or online "source of news"..?
