Or it could be that it's Southampton who are dragging their feet, hoping Chelsea will jump in with a higher offer?

Ox and Keita combined barely counts as a midfielder, to be fair - and Milner was hardly a 3,000 minutes per season in the League player.

Mac Allister and Szoboszlai will get a lot of first-team minutes and those extra minutes can be used to develop youngsters.

Besides - don't think we are dragging our feet at all - think that is largely coming from the Southampton side. I'm sure some will say "just pay what they want" which is no way to negotiate.

Lavia will come and Fabinho (I'm hoping at this stage) will depart. If someone wants out of the privilege of playing for LFC then off they go, no sweat off our back. Could leave us in a situation where next season (assuming Thiago leaves) every one of our midfielders is 25-or-under which would be an excellent dent in the job of future-proofing the squad.
