Another interesting stat on shots faced.
We're third bottom on 170 shots, Arsenal and City have faced 132.
That's a midfield issue.

Yep - would very much point to that when seen on paper. Probably is that too - but Fabinho hasn't been here to blame and Thiago has been injured forever so.. What could it be? Maybe last season was actually more complicated than just blaming it all on the midfield after all?

well we don't have a proper DM midfield is unbalanced are midfielders are more like attacking mids imo

Yep - that could be part of it - on the flip side we have taken the most shots - and by a distance too.. Almot 100 shots more than second placed City who are just 21 ahead of Arsenal in 3rd place.

We' ve gone the opposite way to Fab/Hendo/Wij, wij was the only one ok at going forward, and even then he wasn't the best at it

Possibly... but it could also be to do with the fact that our front line isn't as good? Shooting more and more - missing more and more...committing more and more men forward - losing the ball and getting hit on the break..

I would wager it is far more complex than I suggest but it's possible and on the evidence I have witnessed that is a. component.

True, mane was very good at getting back for example, mix of things I guess.

Oh yes both Mane and Bobby did a shed load of work defending from the front on top of the great goals and assists. Like I said - these players rinsed themselves for the cause. That's why they are mostly washed up now. They gave everything for this project. The embodiment of Klopp on the pitch.

Wow. Definitely more to it than just midfield then.
100 shots more. If just 1/4 of those are converted that's a league title without doubt.
If a clinical finisher and a very good DM are brought in you'd expect to see a marked improvement. Easier said than done obviously but two key players should make a huge difference.

Yep - but we cannot absolve the defending - as miller has mentioned time and time again it has been poor. Konate for instance has not got close to the reputation he has. Can look brilliant and imperious in one game and then like a car crash the next.

Going behind first in 23 games has taken its toll on all of them. The front line - while not close to a prime Mané - Bobby - Salah have pulled their weight plenty of times when the need was there…but how many times can you do that before you are physically and mentally spent? They don’t have anything left in the tank. Feel for Nunez - No he is never a striker. it he gave his all… Now he is getting abuse… Add in the Klopp leaving factor mid season..
