Burnley fall victim to the longest VAR check EVER at five minutes long... as Jay Rodriguez's disallowed goal is changed to onside, then ruled offside AGAIN in late drama against Bournemouth

TBF we would all be screaming were it given against us.. On the flip side we would be wanting the pen were it Darwin or Gakpo going to ground in that situation.

It is so subjective - do you follow the letter of the law ?- in which case it's a pen.. Or do you apply common sense and say it is too much of a gimmie to award the pen in that scenario?

The crucial point is IF you apply the letter of the law - then let's see it EVERY time. We don't - we get inconsistency agian and again. Watch United get a raft of nice decisions now in wake of this soft pen.

I am genuinely at a loss what Referees and the VAR officials are thinking these days, personally Imho they are over thinking every contentious decision…. just get back to basics and have conviction about your decision.

I am of the opinion that the the term “ Clear and obvious error “ is the problem here, because that is another subjective call that is not black and white, it should be replaced with “ Clear and obvious foul “…. with no mud slinging at the Ref post match, VAR should be used to simply get the right decision regardless of any Referee onfield decision… simples

We'd never get that pen in a million years, they need to implement meaningful contact, was it enough for Rodri to throw himself to the ground as he did, NO, book him and move on

    Same with newcastle V arsenal

    Load of shite

how much is newcastle paying em?

Apparently you're allowed to run behind and elbow someone in the back of the head, if you're a newcastle player, and get away with it.

    Goal was dodgy too.

Football is broken and dictacted by refs, and probably dodgy dealings behind the scenes it's appearing so at this rate anyway.

It's hard to care anymore. games a joke

This season is going to be interesting.
As has been said, football is being ruined by the officials screwing up in important games.
What I can't understand is why supporters groups aren't highlighting what is going on, and bringing it to the attention of the media.
I've mentioned it before, is it worth contacting the Football Supporters Organisation to bring this stuff to the attention of the media?

The refs double jobbing in saudi has to be called into question looks to be a massive conflict of intersts and decisions lately are proving it out

It is, even if no money changes hands for specific games in the Prem, it’s pretty obvious any ref wanting a gig out in Saudi is not giving any controversial decisions that may annoy their prospective secondary employers

    Absolutely stinks
