If you have to do it as a substitution when under no real pressure to do so (like with Matip going down injured), that's just an admission that the setup you started with is not working and hasn't worked all game.

And arguably hasn't been working for a while now.

Why is he having to be replaced at his natural position by someone (who in your estimation) offers next to nothing?
