How widespread is it?

To defend the average Egypt fan somewhat, I have seen some incredibly toxic comments from so-called "fans" of Liverpool on social media in the past - if you have thousands upon thousands of people following a side (club or international) then there are going to be absolute numpties.

I'd like to think the average Egypt fan would know better - but who knows.
