    Your team v Bournemouth

There's a little bit of a gap before this game and man are our lads going to need it.

There will be selection headaches aplenty despite our depleted squad. The management of minutes is going to be crucial for a spell of 5 or 6 games until we start getting players back from injury to ease the pressure. Some lads will have to play full sets of 90 minutes more often than may be desirable, but managing the subs made by Jürgen to get lads off to rest may be just as important as who gets picked to start each game.

    ........................Alisson

    Bradley.....Konate....Van Dijk....Gomez

    ....................Mac Allister

    ...........Gravenberch........Jones

    ........Diaz.........Jota.......Núñez

Just to give an idea on the intensity of the schedule, we play -

    Bournemouth on Jan 21st.
Fulham (second leg of League Cup) on Jan 24th.
Norwich/Bristol Rovers (FA Cup) on Jan 28th.
    Chelsea on Jan 31st.
    Arsenal on Feb 4th.

Manage those 5 games and get a couple of lads back and we could be in for one Hell of a ride this season in terms of week-to-week excitement, but equally it could all be on the verge of going very, very wrong as we are a bit more stretched than we would like to be right now.

Both the Norwich/Bristol and Chelsea games take place at Anfield, so once we clear the Fulham game from the schedule, we get to avoid travel for a few days, which is a small percentage in our favour for weathering this tricky patch.

Hopefully every available minute for rest and rehab before the Bournemouth game is being utilised. Come on Reds - you've got this far - time to start making it count.

Some chatter that Szoboszlai may be available for this by the way, though as ever I would happily see him miss a game if it decreases his chances of a setback.

    Elliott in place of Gravenberch.

Gakpo may have done enough to earn a start too.

I actually think (in terms of what Klopp will pick) that both of those two will start - hopefully Elliott has one of his better games. A few of the matches he has started this year he hasn't quite got going, whereas it feels like he excels much more from the bench.

If he can just find that consistency it'll be great.

Few could say he has hit the heights so far and I would still question his build - BUT to be fair, he has been played in multiple positions in a side 'supposedly' in transition. He started on the right wing twice in both of our last League Cup games.. the 5:1 v Wham and the recent 2:1 v Fulham. He was played as an attacking mid v Arsenal (FA cup) and the Filth and a centre mid v Burnley and Palace. Clearly utility at the moment, not the easiest position to fill with a hybrid-new/old attack too.

Possibly does best as an impact sub as he is invariably used to create in between midfield and attack.

Agreed, Gavenberch to me is being somewhat underwhelming at the moment, you can see that there is a really good player in there but either he is struggling with confidence or it’s a fitness thing, but I also think it’s an attitude issue as well…

Whenever I watch him play, when what he is trying to do comes off he is really good with his movement and first touch, but when it doesn’t come off … instead of reacting and immediately trying to win it back…the Klopp way… he does tend to drop his shoulders and shake his head.

I know it’s only a momentary thing, but when football is all about such fine margins, that delayed reaction is the difference between winning the ball back and being skinned and left for dead… not a good trait in a Klopp team.

On the Gakpo front, I must say once again you can see there is a really good player in there, but to me he is a different player when he is angry, I much prefer the angry Gakpo if I am being honest, the beige version is just too nice and gets bullied off the ball far too easily…

I must say though, have we ever had such a technically skilled squad as we have right now…. every player is so good on the ball its fantastic to watch, apart from one or two exceptions… and I will for once resist naming names ..LOL!!

    Bradley
    Konate
    VVD
    Gomez

    Elliott
    MacAllister
    Jones

    Diaz
    Jota
    Nunez

I’ve Elliott in over Gravenberch as that is what I believe Jurgen will do as opposed to what I would like him to do.

Why the love for Elliot all of a sudden?

    what's he done when starteD?

Fuck all, he's not very good.

    He's not a midfielder or a winger

he needs his own position, the elliot position obviously.

Those quotes were for a very important winner against Palace. It was a few weeks ago though so probably time to slate him again.
