The referee made a mistake with the drop ball, firstly he made the same mistake earlier in the match against Liverpool without any comments from the pundits, which just confirms the pundits lack of objectivity in such matters.

Secondly, it is true that you could argue that every mistake made by a referee during the course of a game ultimately influences how the game pans out, the butterfly effect so to speak.

However, i ask you which is worse, a referee making an honest mistake regardless how poor that mistake maybe, or a player deliberately feigning injury or contact to win a free kick or better still a penalty ?

Now, during the course of every game Referees make lots of mistakes but it has to be said that players simulation is a much bigger problem which ultimately makes the referees job which is hard enough, even harder to do and it ultimately leads to more mistakes.., but if that mistake is in your favour thats good, but if its not its bad….

Tbh its ridiculous to blame the ref for a mistake made during the game, especially if the goal that has been conceded is after several minutes have passed and a throw in and a corner has also taken place…

As frustrating as that is for Forest, they have to admit they had plenty of opportunities to clear their lines…and win themselves a point, they could have cleared the ball, they failed to do so and it was this mistake that cost them the point, it certainly had nothing to do with the refs mistake two minutes earlier..

The goal occurred 40 seconds after the allotted extra time of 8 mins, but during those extra eight mins two of their players were booked for wasting time, so the ref was well within his rights to extend the time accordingly…

I can clearly recall a Forest player, supposedly injured, requiring the assistance of two people to get off the pitch. Could have added at least 60 seconds to the clock. Once he was off the pitch, he was walking perfectly OK!
Time-wasting is commonplace for some teams, when it suits them.
