Agree on a formation tweak, I’m sure we switched to 442 v Atalanta & other Italian clubs for the same reason

They had 3 players between our midfield & defence a few times & we’re looking to release a player wide in space with those 3 quickly joining & one or two of them looking to ghost into the box when the CBs were repositioning for a ball in

Maybe 442 with a double pivot to make them go wide & have 2 mids to pick up & protect the back four - There was no protection first game

This tactic of opposition sides having their lone forward drop off into midfield leaving our CBs no-one to mark & allowing them to outnumber our 3 in there has caused us plenty of problems against several sides

Recently against Brighton Jurgen had either of the CBs push into midfield following the forward to stop it, a CB going in or playing with a false 9 dropping in & leaving 2 up to stop them playing out easy I think our formation change to playing just our 9 up & the 2 wide forwards now operating more as attacking mids has contributed to this issue & tactic being employed against us

I genuinely won't be surprised if that does happen.
There's surely going to be a reaction/response to the last couple of games. It'll be disappointing if there isn't.
