Not having the extra 7 points we should have had really didn’t help, having a strong lead could have seen the others drop more points & having a slip up yourselves with a 7 point lead isn’t as rough as having a slip up when level on points but behind on goal difference
That aside, I think the injuries, lack of consistent selection and rhythm & the physical & mental fatigue & toll on players we had to overuse or play sooner & for longer than we otherwise would have has done for us more than anything else
Not having continuity of selection & fit & firing quality from the bench makes a huge difference, especially with an entirely new midfield
