Well...for anyone blaming Klopp - yes, a ridiculous thing to do and I haven't seen anyone beyond the childish, the unthinking or the ignorant doing that.
Many, (even Wayne Rooney -yes even he can see it) just question the timing and the inevitable effect it would ultimately have on the team with so much of the season still to play. Almost certainly this was decided before the season.. So then either cut it off there - terrible as it would have been OR keep it totally under wraps - deny it when and if it gets leaked etc. The way it came out has been damaging. No way the player maintain their pure focus on the title race while there is a media circus around, Klopp's last few games at Anfield under the lights... Klop's last visit to Old Trafford..Klopp's last European game, Klopp's last Derby... on and on and on . Reminder after reminder that the title race is secondary..the big story is that the best thing that happened to the club since Shankly is leaving and he only has a few games left. That is a killer. It's not like he was here 15 plus years and won 5,6,7 titles - he is a man that DESERVED to have won 2 or 3 easily in his 8 years ... far more than more than the single one sodding Arteta may well match in a few weeks.! It is that pressure to give the man a closer reflection of that which his legacy deserves which probably drove the players for a while. But from January.. Half a league season to go.. Just way too long to carry that burden. That's why they have collectively gone to pot.
If anyone really needs questioning it is the ownership. The so called backers that despite RECORD PROFITS never allowed him to take the risks that are so crucial at the top level in this game. The better he achieved the less he got. It is exhausting. Trying to keep the momentum - defend the owners - run the club - corral the players, managed the media.. It's too big a job.. WHY is that? Who is making the job THAT difficult? Klopp has clearly felt that he is running on empty - as he surely must be after all the MASSIVE effort he has had to put in.
Basically... beyond the Bankers who refuse to invest a penny of their own, HE has had to run the ship, entirely. He is crucially aware of this an I am certain THIS IS WHY he felt he had to try and stay longer than his body was capable of. He wanted to leave us in the best possible shape. He knows the next manager is going to have to emulate his work rate OR it's back to Brendan.
