FSG are not bad - but their overwhelming driving force and focus is the business...the money. The club HAS to pay for itself... Well unfortunately, good as that sounds for the bottom line, that will never marry with success for long, even with the best manager on the planet (by far) around.
Too many limiting factors there. This is an investment - they will have multiplied their investment by a factor of at least 10 and probably 15 by the time they sell. That's what it is all about when push comes to shove. While Klopp is around we have come so close to being dominant - and with just a little more backing we would have done.. but that isn't of interest to those who know the sweet spot financially - is just where we are..
I think we are almost all unified in not wanting to be a City or a Chelsea - certainly most of us. We don't want to just go out and buy every quality player we can. We are not looking to be the extension of a state or owned by the richest man on the planet.
It's great to see Klopp develop players, build that togetherness like only the very best managers can. Great to see them blossom and become stars... BUT when the manager does that to good effect with so many BUT has flogged a few other dead horses.. maybe more than 20 dozen times in some cases..... and you..me..and Dupree know that these horses are never going to run... not without others picking up their slack...HOW can a club of this stature be so happy with inaction? Talking about next summers projected signings is bat shit crazy - and a clear admission that we are being tight - when we have to live here and now. It's strange at best - especially so while our owner is personally making more than £1 billion (disgusting imo) in a single year --- to boot.
Hopefully Klopp can work more of his magic (punching above) on the squad and as players come back to fitness we should start to see a return to dominance over the lesser sides at least (United included
)..but we really are asking an awful lot. Klopp will have to pick them up mentally - AGAIN.. remember they are competing with bigger squads, some with a better raft of individual players... It's so demanding. So many of these players have played so many games and plenty are starting to look their age. We have a huge gap. Lot's of very experienced players and lot's of vey inexperienced players - yet almost zero in between..
It would be an absolute travesty if Klopp's legacy at this great club amounted to just 2 major titles. Happy though we all must be with those big wins - it would surely be a huge disappointment after having the best manager on the planet at the helm for so long.
Looking forward we will surely improve - but be warned - if we achieve 90 plus points again..expect another summer of inaction - Milner can get out the walking stick etc
