If anyone can be bothered to dig to prove me inaccurate on the names/details etc they are welcome to, but I am reasonably sure (just one example) that Man City used to have a "data finances" sponsor (or something like that) called 3Key and they had to end their link with them when it was pretty much proven that the company didn't exist.

Just one example. Then remember they had the sponsor that had a figurehead (think she was a Korean lass in business attire) that turned out to be a stock image from Google?

It would all be so laughable if it was a satirical film on Netflix but sadly it's real life.

Then Gary Neville will chip in with "our refs getting paid to do games out there on a big fee MIGHT be a conflict of interest" - yeah no fucking shit Sherlock.

Iirc FFP focused on the last 3 years of accounts and City haven't net spent much over those seasons. Though I believe it is changed again with covid.

Dodgy sponsorship aside they are now compliant roughly speaking after years of cheating.

Der Speigel expose had a lot about City’s phoney sponsors & evidence their owner was giving the money to them to give to City

Yeah for sure. It's the journey for them not the current state. They are probably operating at legal levels now.

The point is surely they acted well outside FFP for 5 years in which they financed thr building of a squad with two or more top quality options in each position & built their success on having cheated the system

Obviously. It's all there in the Der Siegel reports.
It was the route to where they are that's the crux of the issue.
