Fucks sake Istanbul is 20 years next year. Twenty fucking years man. My eldest son will be 19.
To think I didn't even have kids seems a lifetime ago.
Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

What an 11. What a night. I'd turn the clock back in a heartbeat.
We won the game - had the big break but played a bit of a stinker on the night tees.

Watch that game and imagine the team in white is us and the team in Red is Real…

I stick by my assessment that we were very fortunate to be playing Spurs.

    Alisson

    Trent Matip Van Dijk Robertson

    Anyother Henderson Wijnaldum

    Salah Bobby Mane

Was our best for me, best we’ve played under Jürgen that run of games That side would have walked the league this season

Fabinho was and still is a key reason we won what we did. Didn't win a major before or since under Klopp. Henderson - honestly - and most of Europe knows it - replace him with a better mid - and we win more.

I still think Henderson is the reason we didn't get caught out as much when Trent went forward. Without him, we may not have won as much...

That's fine I am sure many reds would say the same. I see it differently. I see a player who ultimately helped shorten the careers of Mane - Bobby and Mo.. His lack of ability to beat a man - any man - keep hold of the ball when needed and not treat it like a hot potato - passing the buck sideways again and again.. imo led to more hard miles for other far more key players in our success.

Once Gini went - in fact once it was clear his contract wasn't being sorted - that midfield was lacking the gymnastics to cope with that technical deficiency that I highlight with Hendo. We won 2 majors & Hendo was a part of it for sure - he lifted his game to its absolute max - but for me a better player in there and we do it without breaking the squad so badly.. We also do it agin a couple of times.

I take Fabinho over Hendo any day of the week

Playing Spurs must've been the good karma to the bad of Ramos Shithousing on Salah and Karius the year before.

    Oh yes..
Ramos was a shithouse alright - see the final v Juve too.. That's who he was.

We've had some of that in recent history too - Masch and then Luis too - similar levels of Shithousery from them 2 so we know it when we see it..

I am just glad we didn't face a Spanish or Italian side - that more tense kind of game - you need to have more controlled play - and that midfield would have been a worry. Even then - v the Spuds without that early penalty I am certain things would have been different.

That was his role. As it was for all of the midfielders, they were all workmenlike grafters. If you have both fullbacks bombing forward then the midfield have to be able to cover.

He'll be this generation's Ronnie Whelan.
