Kelleher
Gomez Quansah Van Dijk Tsimikas
Clark McConnell Mac Allister
Elliott Gakpo Diaz
I’d be looking to get a few on to share the minutes Robbo on to be captain when Virgil gets some rest
I would be really worried about playing Mac Allister from a burnout perspective - hope he isn't needed.
I think playing a "weak" team for the first 45-60 and keeping it tight with a view to (if we can) bringing a couple more senior lads on to control it and nick it late on has to be the way - but Klopp may feel differently.
So keen to win it - not just for progression, not just for keeping that winning run going, but the thought of getting that Everton away fixture pushed back until after the international so we don't face them during an injury crisis is another big carrot.
Really really concerned about this game. Anyone who featured on Sunday is a huge muscle injury risk, but that side was bare bones..
Jeez Steveo, not like you to fret 😁
Here's the outfield players who didn't play the full 120 minutes on Sunday (including Kelleher, who should be good to go tomorrow evening)...
62 GK Republic of Ireland IRL Caoimhín Kelleher
2 DF England ENG Joe Gomez
18 FW Netherlands NED Cody Gakpo
21 DF Greece GRE Kostas Tsimikas
26 DF Scotland SCO Andrew Robertson
78 DF England ENG Jarell Quansah
84 DF Northern Ireland NIR Conor Bradley
Chuck a few of the youngsters into the squad and with a bit of luck Nunez and maybe even Mo may ba available for the bench....
It's not as bad as it seems....
The team has been leaked on a Southampton forum:
Kelleher
Bradley - Gomez - Quansah - Tsimikas
Clark - McConnell - Nyoni
Gakpo - Danns - Koumas
If we find a fit centre back from somewhere we could give Robbo/Tsimi 45 each at left back and put Gomez right back and play the veteran Bradley further forward so his experience can help out the kids in midfield.
I'll be interested to see how the 120 mins affects Chelsea at home to Leeds tomorrow...
