The 100 post thing

Is this going to be the way going forward permanently or is it just while this period of maintenance is taking place. Have to say it’ll get very old very fast. When Gary last brought up this subject I was of the opinion that there is nothing wrong with super threads but now I do think he’s right having read a lot of other forums. Conversation is actually encouraged mor with topical threads. But 100 posts is too little surely?

First of all, thanks to Gary for keeping this place running. I can't imagine there's much money in it if any.

Have to agree regarding the Post count. 100 posts/10 pages doesn't seem a lot even for our dwindling community. 200 posts seems more realistic, though I haven't got a clue about the technical details. There's obviously no money to spend.

Manu and Ole thread which I started has been closed!
As far as I'm concerned that was no more than a continuation of the "demise" thread which was started in JANUARY 2020 i.e. almost two years ago.
Having one thread discussing one of our biggest rivals is not, imho, obsessive.

I dunno why this had to start.. I didnt have any issues with the server loading.. it was working fine for me.

Yes, its running at a loss and has never made money.

Yes, long threads cause ridiculous strain on the server. This is partly because of the archaic vBulletin software that needs to load all posts in order to create the page number link menu that you see on the index pages.

Yes, I agree 100 posts is not enough. Let's try 200 and see how it goes.
