    Entering February.

Just thought it would be nice to remind ourselves of a few things -

    - In the League Cup Final
    - Favourable draw in the FA Cup
    - Door is ajar in a difficult (but not impossible) title challenge and
    - We're through to the knockout stages of the Champion's League against opposition we feel we are favourites to beat.

In the bigger picture - largely settled squad, talented players, World Class manager, some youth graduates/prospects coming through to compliment the squad, stadium updates promising.

Still need work in some areas - need at least one midfielder to refresh things, another forward would be nice, resolve Salah situation etc - but we're in a position that is the envy of about 95% of World Football - which is definitely a lot nicer than being out of the title race by the end of October, fluffing the Cups early on and being in the Europa League - or indeed further down the table.

Oh and not to mention, crowds in stadiums again - meaning that if we do win anything, more folks will get to enjoy it.

I'll definitely take it. Amazing what one little nugget of hope can do isn't it - whether it's buying their players or doing us a favour against Man City - thanks Southampton

If we could have a nice little run of winning games after the international break that would be lovely. I know not everything is perfect in the Garden (never is!) but it's good to look out the window and smell a pretty healthy situation, even if we'd like a Cherry Blossom and some more Daffodils to top it off.

This is a good post Sid and sums up my position with the club at the moment. The way some piss and moan on here you would think we were in the middle of the Roy Hodgson era...

I made a point of us fans becomming a bit spolit/entitled and was roundly jumped upon. I do think some have far too unrealistc expectations.

As i've commented before we could end up with 85-90pts and people would still complain that we've finished 20pts behind City!

In any other era we'd be close to having 3 titles in 4 years...

Is that what we're going to be saying in 30 years time?

If only if it wasn't for city or newcastle we'd have 26 titles in 30 years!

Cardiff in the fa Cup, Leicester, Burnley Away, Inter Away, Norwich, then Chelsea in Wembley to finish the month of February off.

West ham, Inter, Brighton Away and Mancu before the next international break and that's pretty much March.

    Afcon semi's on February 2nd & 3rd.
Final and 3rd place playoff 7th and 6th.

Thiago, Elliot & Philips due back February 6th. Origi February 10th.

Inter will be a test we should hope to best them over two legs.

Should beat Cardiff - it will be a weakened side.

The cup final is one we must win. Be great to start March with a cup in the bag.

Premier league been ticking over and hopefully we are closer to city as the weeks and months pass.

Team - games played - points & points +/- above traditional 2 points a game top 4 pace.

    City - 23 - 57 +11
    Lfc - 22 - 48 +4
    Chelsea - 24 - 47 -1
    Manu - 22 - 38 -6
    West ham - 23 - 37 -9
    Arsenal 21 - 36 -6
    Spurs 20 - 36 -4
    Wolves 21 - 34 -8
Leicester 20 & Brighton 22 both -14 and surely out of the race for top 4.

If it requires 100pts to win the league every season then we might well be saying that!

To me it shows how good our side is. And to be honest I don't think it gets enough credit.

I agree on the squad, it's doing much better than we might have expected.

For me our shape isn't right and it's impacting our play.
Midfield should imo be a 2-1 setup.

    Two 6s & an attacking mid - a 4213 or 4231 over a 4123/433

Essentially making our best 11 after the back 5
    Hendo Fabinho
    Salah Firmino Jota Mane

Steveo feels Thiago is undroppable when fit, I disagree but he'll get plenty of game time. We've seen thiago in midfield operate well in this system.
    Fab Thiago
    Hendo
    Salah Jota Mane

I think Hendo would be pushing for more gametime away from 6 in that 10 role, ZZ notions these days. So Thiago would be well placed for lots of minutes in this system.

In terms of back up, whose betting on Evertons first 11 v our backup all fit

    Back up side from:
    Gk Kelleher Adrian

    Rb Neco Gomez
    Cb Konate Gomez Philips
    Lb Tsimi Gomez

    6s from Thiago Milner Keita
+ Konate Gomez Jones Morton as scrambling options rejigging the first 11

    Front 4 back up from
Ox Keita Jones Origi Taki Elliot

    Considering its everton

    Kelleher
    Gomez Nat Konate Tsimi
    Milner Thiago
    Ox Keita Jones
    Origi

    That's a good cup side

I'd take Bellingham and Mbop in the summer.

City are on for 94/95 points, though they've not had any sticky patches like us or chelsea.
It's theirs to lose, here's hoping

Especially if we get Touchy-feely on the phone!

Luis Diaz being sorted is another plus going into this next phase of the season.
