Thread: Jayden Danns

    Jayden Danns

On another unrelated post I mentioned that I thought that Cole Palmer’s talent and demeanour on the pitch reminded me of Liam Brady…

With that in mind having watched Jayden make a couple of cameo appearances and manage to score 3 goals in the process, which has to be said is very impressive, I have to say his talent for being in the right place at the right time, his movement and probable lack of blistering pace, in so many ways reminds me of a young Harry Kane…

With that in mind, i think I would resist the temptation to loan him out this season and actually utilise him as an impact sub, as to me right now he looks more likely to score off the bench than Darwin Nunez does, who it has to be said has just not cut the mustard during his time at LFC and tbf he just seems to be getting worse with each passing game…

Yep, cracking young lad. I'd have no hesitation in selling Nunez this window, should the right offer come in. If not, then sell him this summer as it's better for both parties we part ways...
Get young Jayden on that bench immensely, he's ready imho...

Good finisher and took his goal well last night but his all round game was off. Don’t know if that was a motivational issue having played and scored in the first team but if it’s his all round game that needs more work it would explain why we haven’t seen more of him.

99% of the fanbase would have a meltdown if we sold Nunez for £80m and announced that Danns was getting promoted in his place.

It would only take a few poor performances before he was writen off (See Jones, Elliot, Quansah, Doak, Morton et al) and everyone would be asking why we didn't spend the £80m on a new forward.

Or put that £80m towards a DM and a CB or LB...
    and now we're talking....

I've no doubt in my mind that Danns would score more than 2 goals by season's end, even from the bench. Especially with the amount of chances we create in the opposition's box...

Be under no illusions, I am not advocating selling Nunez and just promoting Danns, if we do sell Nunez we must immediately replace him with a striker better suited to our new style, however what I am advocating is to give the lad some game time whilst his confidence is so high.

If we dont sell him, we all know there are no guarantees in football, but to me a player with confidence invariably trump players who are really struggling… and boy is Nunez struggling right now…

I think Jozza was insinuating that the fanbase are the problem.

Nunez is playing second fiddle at LFC to Mo, as are the rest of our attackers.

Here's the PL stats to date Salah v the other 4 forwards combined.

    Expected PL goals
    Salah 16.27
    V
Diaz, Jota, Gakpo & Nunez 16.25

Salah is getting as many chances/XG to score in the PL as the boyos

    Goals scored
    Salah 18
    V
Diaz, Jota, Gakpo & Nunez 21

The boyos have converted 3 more, both outperforming XG

    Big chances missed
    Salah 14
    V
Diaz, Jota, Gakpo & Nunez 20

Less big chances missed for Salah.

    Expected assists
    Salah 4.84 (2nd to Trent)
    V
    Diaz (8th), Jota (10th), Gakpo (5th) & Nunez (13th) 5.06

Fairly close, boyos very slightly ahead.
    (Showing their rank in squad)

    Assists

    V
Diaz, Jota, Gakpo & Nunez 10

That's a tackle per 196 minutes from Mo
    &
A tackle per 67 minutes from our boyos

Mo gets the chances as he's top dog, the lads graft for him.

Think each of Gakpo, Nunez, Jota & Diaz have been called not good enough at some point over the last year.

Read what you want to into it. But I've seen it all before.
