Life is **** with a capital ****. If you've pulled a short straw you may as well 'call time' on things straight away and save yourself from years of misery.

Life is ****. the world is ****, and most of the people who inhabit it are ****.

I must have been a genocidal maniac in a past life. It's the only way to explain the endless **** I've been subjected to over the best part of four decades.

I tried to get to the doctors to organise some treatment that I need. I leave well before 3pm thinking that the kids haven't finished school yet so 'll be fine, but no they seem to have been let out early. No wonder they are 'dumber than ever'. Anyway as a result the bus didn't stop/pick up any passengers so I had to inform the surgery I was running late.

I then had to wait a bit for another bus and had to get off to transfer to another which goes near the surgery and for some reason all the buses were taking ages. Finally a bus comes along and wouldn't you know it there are two of the ****ers arriving at the same time. The buses then take ages, not helped by a car parked/stopped/crashed in the middle of a road.

I finally get to the surgery and despite having to wait up to an hour many times during my three decades of attending the place, the dozy moo behind the reception desk informs me that the doctor is running on time, which never ****ing happens. She then takes an absolute age to type/send an automated message to the doctor (It only required a one line message), only to tell me that they wouldn't see me and that I'd have to re-book, which not only costs me more time and money, but denies me the treatment I need to help mobility/pain issues, something that makes to-ing and fro-ing between home and the doctors extra difficult/painful.

To make things worse, the one doctor/medical professional that I'v been able to count on to take me as seriously as they should and get things done is moving to pastures new at the end of this month. :*(

Seriously, I really want to know what I've done to deserve all this endless ****. I'm not perfect, but I'm a good guy. How about the universe cuts me some slack for a bit and lets me try to cope with the mountain of **** I have had, am having, and will have to deal with without heaping bucket loads more onto my plate?

It shouldn't be too much to ask, but for some reason it seems to be when it comes to me. + :*(

So, it's the school holidays over here in the sunny UK.

What's good?
MASSIVE drop in the number of cars on the road, early mornings and school finish time.

What's not so good?
Huge number of schoolkids hanging around the streets, not knowing what to do with themselves.
Greedy holiday companies hiking up the price of holidays anywhere and everywhere.

Yep. All based around harvesting on farms.
I didnt know any kids who did that when I was at school. A way out dated calendar.

In yesteryear everyone worked on the farms of families but for shorter time periods than 6 weeks. It was a community effort to make hay etc. People back then pretty much only bought flour, oats, dairy and sugar etc from shops, grew most things from their own gardens. Making all kinds of jams and storing crops till the next season. Using winter crops also.

Maybe if ye pooled together you could reduce childcare costs and have kids working in the garden/allotments picking fruits, planting crops etc theyd benefit from the rich and historical traditions, while also reducing dependency on grocers saving more money for the family. Giving them a sense of pride.

Read a piece recently which claimed that if you took the 1870s health standards and merely applied modern medicine to childbirth and infant mortality that the life expectancy would be the same. Though people today have a host of long term illnesses that weren't present in the 1870s as they aged like diabetes, heart disease and cancers.

Lots of older parents lived different lives back then, daily life is much more expensive now which is why a huge amount of families are 2 working ones. A lot of older parents are also comfortable on final salary pensions, grandparents play a much bigger role in childcare than in years gone by.

The parents I'm talking about often had both parents working. Over here it would seem (no fact as such) that parents with 2 or more kids particularly would be financially better off with only 1 parent working.
In our abortion debate it surprised me how many women were aborting a 3rd baby on account of the lack of action in reforming childcare costs.
That many two parent working families of 2 chilldren were merely working at no gain from having a second income. The only advantage maybe in having a better return on retirement but the way things seem to go that might prove to be idealistic rather than practically true. The other advantage maybe in getting away from their own children if that's seen as an advantage.

Sort out the compensation culture. Some really scandalous stories in this area.
Tell kids what's happening and imo they'd enjoy it. Those familiar with research in tech dont let their kids access it.
In nursing homes you leave people do what they can do. Parents of today are the personification of nanny states. This last year I've met 9 year olds that cant tie their shoelaces or have never used a knife and were unable to use a plastic knife to cut nuggets/sausages at a birthday party. Parents today cripple their kids in many ways.

Where theres a will theres a way. What I find is kids miss meeting up with their buddies at school but enjoy getting away from school. These types of avenues afford them the chance to meet their pals without having to sit in a classroom. Producing something of worth and contributing.
The change in childhood in 3-4 familial generations is alarming, with impacts on mental and physical health in childhood presently. Reversing some of the negatives while keeping the more positive aspects is desirable.
There are techical issues but you start off on a path and you solve those as you go to a point. It'll save money, be good for kids and have parents and professionals overseeing and socialising.

Its something that needs to be instilled early. At school now theres an early approach to budgeting money so kids will know how to manage it better than previous genetations. Wheres the educating in terms of family values and the things you talk of like growing their own food? Its all geated towards the whole birth, school, work, marraige, mortgage, retirement, dea th cycle. That sounds lovely but first things first, some people aren't on speaking terms with their next door neighbours, don't have gardens and they keep building on any patch of urban green they can get their hands on. As for reducing dependency, great idea but dependency is what makes the economy tick. Consumerism.

Atrophy and Dependence. Back in 1870 you may have squatted behind a bush to take a dump but now you have a nice seat so your perineal muscles atrophy and you become dependent on your nursing homes, same with tying knots, using a knife, if you can't do the basic skills they atrophy and you become dependent on others or the state, and that costs you, and not just in money.

Well it's a means for developing bonds, or at least some level of tolerance. Agree on the dependency and economics. People/society cant get their heads around the idea of their being a limited amount of work. With automation etc we go towards having 24/7 Tesco's and pubs. Open up sex work to employ single mothers as advertised in UK social services or dole offices cant remember which one. It's like North Korea just making jobs to keep people busy in the absence of a capacity to simply live. That art is dying.

It's one of my beefs with the NHS system, weve a very poor version of it over here. While I agree with universal healthcare I can also see how it's a massive cash cow for suppliers.
Keep expiring some token and going way over the word count in the climate change thread but those electric cars had the same capacity as the ones today. At&t who own CNN, bought Stan Ovshinskys company and withdrew the patent and recalled the cars. There are some issues around electric cars and they may not be all people think but it just demonstrates how big financing works. Buy up numerous sectors and increase profits via more problems.
Think it's rather similar in the food and health industry. Change the diet, make more sick people then give them the bandages etc and you've more customers or market share and profits.
While as part of the attack on the diet, a wealth of mental health statistics show people are worse off now than before in terms of health statistics.

Just do the hover dump, at least it'll take the weight off the seat.

I find the discussions around family and so on really interesting.
Here's my take, from an old'un - random thoughts I'm afraid.

Years ago, perhaps pre-war as much as anything, parents would have anything from two to seven kids. Lack or shortage of contraception, anything available was financially out of reach.
Back in those days, one parent, only, was usually in (full-time) work. Families would live from hand to mouth. People grew their own food (vegetables). There were no benefits available.
With a shortage of cars/other transport, families generally remained in a smaller geographical area. This meant family could all support each other.

The whole family dynamic has changed, IMO, because of the availability of transport.
Today, with so many cars on the road, families can be spread all around the UK or even abroad. the UK has become a benefits society. some families have more and more kids in order to obtain the benefits available.
In the past twenty to thirty years, maybe more, multiple generations of families have never worked, in some cases it's economically not viable for them to do so.
The employment market has changed. Post-war the UK had a huge amount of mining, shipbuilding, steel production.
What does the UK have today that can employ thousands of people?

I had to go to a 'medical' appointment today. As a result of massive anxiety and not having slept due to this anxiety and various medical conditions including an infection I developed a couple of days ago, I left my phone in the taxi.

Like I said, some people are repeatedly kicked when they are down, when they are nearly dead, and even in some cases when they actually are dead, both actually and metaphorically.

Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? :(

I was talking to a bloke i work with a while ago and i mentioned i'd met Jamie Carragher, after the usual spitting remarks and that he said
"Carragher isn't even a proper scouser." I asked if he knew where Bootle was and he said,"its not proper Scouse round there." So i was wondering if any "Scousers "on here could tell me where the proper ones come from? Maybe it might be like the cockneys with the bow bells thing and i just haven't heard about it.

Don't think I'm a "proper scouser" as such.
I was born in Liverpool and lived in L13 (Stoneycroft, not far from Old Swan L14) until moving to South Wales at the age of 14.
Can't say I agree with the bloke you talked to, as Bootle contains part of the docks network, and I've always thought of the docks as being a major part of the City.
Far as I'm concerned Liverpool extends from the Pier Head to Speke in the South, Knowsley to the East and Litherland/Crosby to the North.
I'm sure other scousers might disagree with my argument.

Some people are born to suffer.

I am really starting to hate this country, and particularly the NHS. I hate the latter with a passion that would cause the Hulk to never be able to revert back to Bruce Banner.

I hope none of you ever get seriously ill or develop a number of nasty, complex and rare conditions. If you do and you're not well off/don't have private medical insurance in place you're in for a world of pain on top of any actual pain you may be in.

I'm in constant agonising pain as it is due to my existing conditions, and I'm now in the process of trying to get two 'new' things diagnosed. One is causing even more intense pain, and one which I won't go into details about other than the fact it reduces my almost non existent quality of life to zero and has very serious knock on effects, two of which forced me into hospital a while back where I was nearly killed. It turns out this new pain is a double hernia. Just what I need on top of everything else.

I'm not a religious person, but if there is a 'god', he/she/it is a sadistic a-hole for making people like me endure countless/continuous horrific things.

Just back in after spending all day at two hospitals and my GP surgery dealing with multiple new and worsening issues. Some people just continually draw short straws throughout their life, if indeed they've actually had some 'life' be it actually drawing breath or what comes their way whilst they do.

Fuck it all, that's my style!!

I am effectively teetotal. I only really ever had a drink when I went to the pub to watch us, and I had to stop doing that years ago due to my health. I have only ever been slightly 'drunk' once and that was many years ago and was because I was having yet another bad time (I've effectively never had a good time) and two 'friends' (one of whom fkd me over multiple times despite claiming to be my best mate) kept putting shorts in front of me and I just drunk them because I just didn't care anymore. If I was to do that now the resulting consequences could range from me ending up in hospital, being permanently confined to a wheelchair, or perhaps 'something' even worse than that.

You just have one (or more) for me instead.

All the media have been saying that he's 'brave' to have come out and praising him to high heaven, but nobody mentions what it must be like and what it must do to his wife and kids. He actually had a comedienne on the show not long ago discussing her having her husband do the same thing. I'm sorry but people know their sexuality from an early age. Him and others like him who basically lie to/deceive others for reasons such as fitting in, having kids or whatever are basically selfish gits to put it mildly.

Maybe, but that changes nothing in regards to what I said. He's had years to come out. It's not as if he's a film star who needs to be seen as being heterosexual, or a famous sports person who will get lots of abuse.

How is it possible for one person to have so much s*** go wrong in the space of a few minutes? Fate/the universe is determined to keep torturing me. I'd much prefer for it to make up its mind and either stop making me suffer, or just finish me off.
