Here's a thread where we can all hopefully soon laugh at our rival's misfortunes.

Nice of Leeds to slow down the Villa train a bit.

By no means did I feel Villa would compete for the title (and I still don't, think they could be around 4th spot come Christmas maybe, then fall away gradually) or anything, but even Early Doors I don't want any side getting 6-10 points ahead of where we're at, as momentum and self-belief are huge.

I fucking love watching Antonio. He's such a weird player. Really big and strong, but also quick. He's a terrible finisher, but scores loads... Is capable of the most mind bogglingly moronic decisions, but also some clever tricks.

The way city are playing we don't need VVD this season

T'is a team game, a squad game - and we have a winning mentality engrained into the players.

I think we can win the League without Van Dijk, especially in this season of more freak results.

88 points wins the League I think. Maybe even as few as 84 - but we're very capable, just get that extra 5% out of everyone and shift a touch more emphasis towards clean sheets as it only takes one goal to win in those circumstances.

Have huge Faith in Klopp to succeed in what is surely our biggest challenge yet.

He wins a lot of penalties ;)

He scores goals, not just penalties either. Also, his assists record is decent too. There was a reason a few on here wanted to get him before he signed for them.

Crimson Dynasty

English officials have to be the absolute WORST referees in the world.
And that includes the twats who sit in that VAR booth.

How is Maguire still on the field or in the game?

That literal mugging he did of Azpilecueta with both arms around his neck was a straight red in any other respectable league on the face of this planet.
So the England number one goalie and captain both escape clear cut red card-able offenses in consecutive weekends with no VAR review (I thought that this was what VAR was supposed to be here for? What was the excuse this time? There was no offside?)

I'm beginning to notice a pattern here.

justme

And you'd still get red-carded for it after a VAR review and sent off and cost your side a penalty in the 98th minute.

I missed most of the second half when I went to sort out my laundry.
Needed something more entertaining to do.

Have the Scum been awarded their obligatory VAR-reviewed 88th minute penalty decision yet (....for a "foul" on De Gea at the other end)

Or are we waiting for the 96th minute to do it?

Imagine that!

Buy-out clause is £367m or something daft.

Would still be very interested in getting Sancho. Mbappe may be the dream, but "feels" next to impossible in terms of how we operate, whereas Sancho doesn't seem beyond the realm of possibility.

How about Haaland as an M’bappe alternative? Cheaper and lower wages but just as many goals, if not more.

justme
25th October 2020, 12:43 AM
This is not a new opinion of mine, And i know others have seen more of M'bappe. But he didnt impress me that much when i have seen him.
I just think he takes to long to shoot and he requires pace to break into. I think he would get caught a lot with the ball playing in the Premier League.
I can't really speak much on Sancho, as part from when hes played for England ive not seen him at all. (not that i watch full matches of England 10 mins here and there)
But Haaland has scored some crackers and seem to know where the goal is. So hes + in my book,And we do need an out and out forward.
Its a shame SON is getting on in years.. He'll be 28 soon.. But hes a class act .second best inside right after Mane in the league.

Shit cunt bitters get outclassed for the second week running with no bent var officials to bail them out this time

Commentators talking about this defeat being a reality check, imo they were shit this week because they were actually naive enough to believe they could give us a game last week and Richarlieson's disgraceful tackle was out of pure frustration and pent up anger when they were outclassed and shown up to be the shit cunts they are and they knew they only escaped with a point and their keeper still on the pitch courtesy of some incredibly bent VAR officiating and what after the Chelsea and Sheffield UTD pens on top of that looks a crystal clear Premier League, English FA and refs association anti Liverpool agenda

No retrospective action against Prickford tells you all you need to know about the VAR being a deliberate pre orchestrated stitch, as if it weren't they'd have admitted it was a disastrous error and banned the cunt

I've seen it a few times now, there's an clip of it in which you can see as clear as the light of day that realising he's not getting the ball Prickford takes his eyes completely off the ball, looks straight at Virgil's legs and deliberately does his worst, i hope for karma that someone takes the shit cunt out and the bitters go down

What do you expect? The Premier League English FA and refs association have given them the green light following their inaction at the time through VAR and in failing to take retrospective action against Prickford

Re the decision not to take retrospective action against Prickford there's a legal case to be made against the stitch up bastards on health and safety grounds and failure to protect players, a very strong case, with the footage showing clear deliberate intent from Prickford

Don't really ever see the 100 and 98 point seasons happening again easily, if at all. Guardiola may well leave at the end of the year, they're not getting Klopp, next manager needs to replace Aguero and Fernandinho - maybe I am thinking too optimistically on this score but I think they could be just 2-4 seasons away from being a variant of Wenger's Arsenal - they'll win the League Cup plenty due to squad depth, they'll consistently finish Top Four, but that may be "it" as it were.

Let's hope.

Get your bets on now for Arteta to be the next UAE FC boss inside 12 months, what he's done with the Arsenal rabble he inherited and his former clubs inability to press or defend shows who was really behind their successes under Guardiola

Carlo Ancelotti on Lucas Digne's red card: "The red card was a joke, it was not intentional, for sure it was not violent. Maybe all this talk all week against Pickford, against Richarlison, affected the decision and if so it's not right, it's not fair. We will appeal, for sure."

I've always had a lot of respect for Ancelotti, but it's started to dwindle over the last week. I'm beginning to wonder if he knows anything about football.

Great weekend with a great set of results for us after an awful couple of weeks.

Really was a fabulous weekend.

We're now looking at the table through a totally different lens.

We're second despite having played the sides in first, third and fifth respectively, having also played traditionally strong sides in Arsenal and Chelsea, plus dealing with injuries to one of the World's best midfielders, the World's best centre-back and probably the World's best goalie, juggling a Champion's League win en route and can rightly claim we should be top but for a VAR decision, with us recovering from a seriously bloodied nose against Villa along the way.

Doesn't really seem so bad now, does it! Have to keep winning matches of course but if Europe provides a confidence boost (we could be 2 wins from 2 matches come 10 o' clock on Tuesday) to help us prior to the West Ham game and we get the odd favour here or there, the table may look very acceptable after 10 League matches, which would be a positive sign.

Glad we didn't follow through with our alleged interest in Ndombele, he's another without a switch ball, Docherty made great runs unseen twice in the first half Ndombele saw him twice and didn't have that pass to release, 3 passes later Spurs eventually worked the ball to him, when the initiative he had gained was entirely lost, brings back nightmares of that first leg v Atletico

So glad we have Thiago and Hendo now, but for me there's still nowhere near enough players in our midfield contingent who can play the switch balls, 2 out of 10 is woeful, you have to hope it's a 'must have' attribute that's been added to our scouting and data analysis departments when looking at players and something we're working on developing through the academy given the advantages we have at full back and LFWD &RFWD

They definitely should have managed more than 81 points last season, but we got too far ahead and thus they couldn't find that extra edge. Would happily take a favour from Spurs.

Not really spurs don't have trent robbo Salah and mane allison... and normally VVD, midfield is pretty average for them too.

They need more than that to challenge I'd only take kane>firmino in that team, rate salah and mane over Son who's going through a good patch.

I'm sure mourinho has been looking at us a little, with how he's setup there's some similarity's kane has been dropping back like firmino and only really has son to support him, sorry for crediting another team/player

Miles better than firmino though:encouragement: at the moment bobby at his best is on par with him, I guess well not really but near

I know, and I know i'm being greedy but i've always felt like we're one player away from being unstoppable, even back when we had torres- I felt we was 1 or 2 players short, and if we didn't have ngog as backup- could of been a different story back then

Obviously better days now but still can't help but think how much we could dominate with this team before players get past there "best"- if we had that extra player, be it a very very good CB or striker one or the other.

And then I look at city with the money they've spent and laugh, they should have this team i'm on about, but luckily pepe has gone to shit as a manager in my eyes, tactically has no idea sometimes, and the recruitment strategy is hilarious- but thank fuck otherwise we wouldn't be winning the league

Balinkay
27th October 2020, 05:06 PM
I see your point, Kev, but I don't think any team is ever really unstoppable. E.g. I'd put money on Bayern not winning the CL this year. Even that mighty Barcelona fell to Inter and it was only the UEFA conspiracy / paid off ref that got them to the CL final the year before.

I do agree that we should always be looking to improve, if reasonable in any way. We just have to weigh the added points a signing like that would get us against other options for squad investment. E.g. I don't think upgrading on Adrian is worth it, if that money could go to... idk, let's say a replacement for Matip.

Nineteenx

Still a very good start to the season for Kane with 5 goals and 8 assists in the opening 6 PL games

We can get there again and surpass our previous best now we have both Henderson and Thiago with the creative abilities to switch play, play through balls and balls over the top as we did all of so brilliantly at our previous best when we only had Henderson who could play those balls and with Thiago having a greater variety of creative passing

I really didn't like the 4231, it didn't work and we hamstrung ourselves somewhat by rendering a number of our best players and their relationships and interactions with others that have been built up and developed through 3 years of continuity of selection, position and formation considerably less effective

I guess Jurgen's trying it because of the sheer volume of games, he feels he can't stick with pretty much his best 11 as he always has previously, with those not developing and raising their levels and not being able to play the system to the required level or at least facilitating it functioning barely seeing any game time. I personally think it's all a bit Corporal Jones "Don't panic, don't panic, i'm in charge" after the injury to Virgil as he has to keep playing the CB's and Trent because that's wwhere we're short, and at RB Neco's not ready and does stupid immature things every game and our second best option at RB Gomez is needed at CB, everywhere else we've got loads of options to give players some rest without any need to alter formation at all.

Panicking about the number of games and insisting on a change of formation then including Mo, Mane, Bobby AND Jota in that line up, when we are going to have to try and give our front 3 some rest and in Jota we finally have a top quality option to do that at LFWD and RFWD in Jota makes no sense at all. If it's to try and blend him in so he's better when needed to come in at LFWD or RFWD, how exactly does that work playing him in a formation in which all our usual positioning, movement relationships and patterns of play have gone completely out of the window? It makes no sense at all

All a bit Corporal Jones, just needs to take a deep breath, with the analysis team look at what exactly made us so brilliant and consistent and our press virtually inpenetrable in that run in Fabinho's absence last season and work on that and improving that. It can be improved upon and players can still have some rest because we now have Hendo and Thiago

If he can't trust Matip Fabinho and Gomez to read and win the headers from attempted long balls that press restricted most teams to, and to step forward and tackle the striker trying to play between midfield and defence when necessary (Matip and Fabinho both do this exceptionally well) why are any of them in his squad at CB?
