Looking at further replays it just reveals that a couple of years ago that would never have been given in a million years.

On the flip side, it's also the reason why you now train defenders to play with their hands behind their back when they're in the penalty area and it looks like the opposing player will shoot or cross.
And in that circumstance Gomez should have done better.

Not the worst result, coming right before an international break and away at the barn of our biggest rivals for the title.

We probably could have and should have won it in the first half if we finished or took our chances better and were all over them then.
Coped well enough with the inevitable surge back once they got back into the game.
Hopefully Trent's knock is not a serious long-term injury, but on the plus side, at least it keeps him out of the international games.

He was poor today for sure.

He was much worse than Bobby was. I thought the 4 ul front worked very well and clearly caught city out cold. Thougt Bobby played well in ths first 3rd. When we reverted to a more orthodox system after going 1 up he stank the place again. Needs a spell on the bench now if possible.

Dropping Bobby is a hard sell for Klopp not thay he can't see it but as a Manager of man. He is showing loyalty to on his eyes the key player for our past successes. He is subbing him earlier and showing that he needs to do it or perhaps lose his place. Let us trust the process though frustrating but Bobby deserves it and Klopp also deserves handling the process.

On the game we were deep and the formation nullified us. Besides Bobby, manu others were not good. Salah was poor. Mane okayish. Jota also had a okay game. Think Matip, Gomes and Gini were our best players. Robbo was solid too.

We got sloppy after half an hour and let them have possession far too easily. I thought there was a few times too where the final pass was just not good enough, had it been we could have been out of sight. That front 4 could do some damage in other games though when it gels so definitely things to take positives from.

Not Jurgen's finest hour, Jota's been exceptional since he arrive, but our 2 most consistent and threatening forwards over the last 3 seasons who have got so many absolutely crucial goals for us are Mane and Salah, UAE FCs rcb is new to the league, new to Mane, didn't seem at all switched on or sure what to do or where to be and how to play Mane when he was in his usual LFWD position of the last 3 seasons, if we're leaving 2 forward like that, it simply has to be Mane and Salah all day every day, especially today and depending how play can develop one should always be making a run in his usual position and the other through the middle, not both

After moving Mane from his best position and changing the formation to 442, we never ever wrestled back the initiative and that formation change is what cost us their equaliser and nearly more

Our players aren't used to playing 442, to me moving 1 of Europe's most lethal forwards (Mane) to midfield in a completely alien formation is bordering on criminal, especially against a CB new to the league and seemingly clueless on how to deal with Mane in his LFWD position

Jota was poor today as bad if not worse than Bobby who at least linked play very well for the most part and enabled us to play out of attempted presses and make transtions into attacks several times, Shaqiri was simply woeful, one swallow and all that.

Bobby wasn't great at all in the 442, neither were most of our other lads and again, Bobby shouldn't have been in that 2, he should have been dropping into midfield, but 4312 with Bobby as the 1 dropping into midfield as and when necessary getting a foot in and nicking it off players toes coming unseen from behind them was really what we should have done.

A decent point, a point more than we've managed there in the last 3 seasons, but they're nothing like the side they were in those 3 seasons and they were there for the taking today, so for me very much a glorious opportunity missed and not a good day from Jurgen at all

Matip MOTM for me, he misplaced a few passes after the 60 minute mark when he understandably got a bit leggy, but made a few very good passes from defence through midfield prior to that while Joe failed to connect a single one of his attempted passes of the same type. Matip was very dominant for me, doing what Matip does, reading it well, winning his battles, stepped into midfield 4 or 5 times to make crucial tackles on Sterling to stop anything developing when they otherwise would have been away and made one absolutely vital interception when Sterling would have otherwise been clean through

Stick with the front 3 please Jurgen whether that front 3 contains Jota or Bobby with Salah and Mane both in their best positions, if you wan't to drop off go 4312 please with Mane and Mo the 2 up top and Bobby or Jota just and only just ahead of the midfield 3 plugging holes, blocking lines and dropping back in to make crucial interventions when needed rather than putting players in alien positions in an alien formation leading so soft goals like todays
