TBF they're at home to Burnley at 3 o'clock. We were away to Brighton, probably the furthest away from Anfield in the league for a 12.30 kick off.

True, but there's a difference between the owner's and the club's money. Furthermore, even if he does bankroll them ad infinitum, they will get into FFP trouble. And as rich as he is, he doesn't have the backing of a major player on the international stage to bribe everyone and everything to get them out, unlike some CERTAIN OTHER CLUBS WHICH SHALL REMAIN NAMELESS.

Besides, at some point he'll pull the plug if they can't sustain themselves financially. What's in it for him otherwise?

Swansea suited Brewster better because they are a passing team and try and play in the oppositions half. So Brewster got a chance to be in and around the box.
Sheffield united right now are to deep and theres far to much space between the middle and forward line. I dont see Brewster being able to run with the ball and create chances for himself.. Last season before the lock down Sheffield United were on the front foot and pressed the ball very well.

I fucking hate the way it's being applied. The tech is amazing, but they're really really not using it to its full potential. The whole point was to reduce discussions and instead it's made them so much worse.

Like in that image ^. If they draw the line from the defender's sleeve James is still offside, but not by much.

Does it? Then the lines would be overlapping and we'd just be looking at which line starts closer to the goal, basically bringing us back to pixel-thin lines.

But even that changes nothing - it just moves the offside line 5 inches back. It's still a one-pixel binary decision - if there's a pixel wide gap -> offisde. Otherwise onside. That's no different to "this line is behind the other by one pixel".

Then when you take away the lines you should be able to see if the player is offside.

I honestly don't think it was thought out properly.

They could definitely do it better, we agree on that. Don't like the idea of "you should be able to see" as it's so subjective. My goal would be to remove all subjectivity from the decision, just like we do with goal line technology. It's essentially the same geometrical problem.

I'm personally a big friend of the lines - if one pixel is off, you're off. No ifs buts and maybes. However, they're not being applied as well or as transparently as they should imo.

I think you're underestimating how much of a motivator money is to not just footballers, but people in general. If they can't get a high paying gig at a club who will not only challenge for trophies, but where they will get regular playing time, the next most preferable alternative for most players is to get any kind of high paying gig, even if it means largely getting splinters in their backsides.

Yes indeed.

The key for us will be to get more players back in from the treatment room than the numbers going out due to injury.

Returns of Ox, Keita, Milner, Shaqiri and Thiago would open several midfield doors, which in turn gives us more flexibility should we need to persist with Fabinho at centre-back or have Henderson do a game or two back there as Matip definitely isn't a guy who can play midweek+the weekend very often.

Could someone please sit me down and explain to me what the hell is going on this season with these crazy results all over the place?

Leicester have a chance to go second with a simple 1-0 win at home, and they find themselves 2 down at the half to relegation fodder (and everyone's pick to go back down again) Fulham?!?!??!

I mean,.....I want to put it down to just,...another Brendan team being a Brendan team, but this is just nuts.

Also, can we please get our act together and start stringing together some results since no one else seems to want it?

Still a lot of game left in this and Leicester could still come back and nick it (and let's be honest, they probably should), but this is wild.

It’s the league nobody wants to win. After big points won it last 3 years could be low 80s this year. Don’t think it will be less than 80 think United and arsenal both won PL with less than 80 points. A minnow could sneak in again like Leicester. United or Spurs.

I really hope we do find out form and consistency soon(-ish).

I feel like this year might be one of those years when all you need to do is get just a little bit of separation at the top (like 4 or 5 points lead) and it'll take some beating for the rest of the chasing pack to hunt you down and catch you.

Certainly not the 18, 25 point lead we felt we had to build up last season by January, because we were worried that City were going to put that end season run they were known for and had put the two previous seasons (and they may yet still do so this season as well - from last weekend's result it looks like they might be finding their form again).

I also strongly believe that one or both of Spurs and Chelsea will stumble at some point and go on a dry patch of results and again, I can only hope we are on it then to take advantage,

The officiating in the Premier League has become a lottery.
Fulham player shoved over from behind on the edge of the Leicester box, the free kick is inexplicably given to Leicester. In the minor skirmish that ensues, a Leicester player kicks out at a Fulham player who goes to remonstrate with the official.... nothing done. The whole incident encapsulates the inefficiency of our officials in this League, they are just woeful.

Villa penalty for the slightest of contact. Again, the officials giving it at one end and not the other, they are deciding where points go in too many games. If you’re going to give it at one end you really have to be consistent and give it at the other.

We were desperate for a proper CB in 2014/15/16/17 but only got Virgil - belatedly in 2018 ( December 27 2017 ) 'cause Barca were willing to blow €160 million on Coutinho. If we do go for Grealish he will come at a premium and comes at the cost of another star leaving and a lack of investment elsewhere.

We have been ducking domestic cups for years on account of a light squad stretched too thin. Despite this we get to a final for a second successive season - win it....and.... Sweet FA in terms of bolstering the squad!!

We then wait till this summer and ONLY after losing Lovren, Brewster, Clyne & Lallana do we bring in Jota and Thiago. We made a profit AGAIN this summer. Taking our total net spend since winning the Champions League in 2019 to the grand total of ..... wait for it..... £0....

Yes we would al love Grealish BUT at what cost..?

I feel sorry for Oxlade though hes just had no look with injuries. Hes a very talented footballer and often gets kicked because of cloggers in the opposition. But even hes living on borrowed. One more long term injury that will be it for him with us.

They would find a way OK clever clogs.. Has for our midfield. over the last 2 seasons. its actually worked hasnt it?? we have 3 work men like midfielders.
Its ok winning 2/3 games playing sublime football. Its the in between games that matters. its how consistent you are.
For all the greatness of Fernandes and so on. They are still miles behind the top teams and they will still lose more than they win.
