Thought we may as well have a thread seeing as it’s the Manc derby later.

And I think we need to know Harvey Elliot has scored again for Blackburn v Norwich. Doing well.

Not sure what happened at Wolves earlier, it was 0-0 forever then apparently a red card each and Villa got a 94th minute penalty to win the game.

if someone else gets injured before Jan, attacking wise- can we recall Elliot? do you know?

Probably a better option than that useless lump origi if he tried i'd might still have some respect for what he did in history but nope. he still lives off those moments, it's like after that he's finished, done

Our extra guy for depth has got injured as you know in a pointless game and the others are frankly shite or never fit

Elliot never looked good enough when he played for us in my honest opinion. I doubt a few months playing for Blackburn has made much difference, but at least he’d try, which is more than Origi does:

A draw for me is best, with City scoring first so that United feel like they won.

2-0 to City, United make it 2-2, full-time result 2-2 would do the job.

I’d just like to see some passion; maybe a few rough tackles, some yellow and red cards. This must be the most sterile Derby on the planet. Both of these sides take games against us more seriously.

Nothing wrong with doing that if teams are naive enough to let them do it. Why would city care or try anything different?

As for the game... I’ve seen more competitive pre season friendlies.

Glad you mentioned this.

In our draw against them there was a spell in the second half where City seemed to be having more of the game and I thought they would "twist" and bag a win.

Instead it seemed they settled for the draw. I felt they would regret it further down the line of the season and assumed they would push harder in big matches.

If tonight is anything to go by they failed once more. On paper they have the squad to get more points against "the rest" than most, but I am surprised how much they're letting themselves down.

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool. Our relentless pursuit of them and then eventually strolling the league last season. Also ever since that 4-3 we showed teams how to beat them. Wolves then mastered it and then almost every other team. The formula is let them pass it around and hurt them with pace and precision. Mane, Traore, Salah, Bobby, Jiminez and other forwards have now made Pep second guess his methods. He has now over compensated with 2 holding midfielders. Fullbacks are no longer bombing forward as the scared of that devastating blow that keeps kn biting them.

Absolutely.

In seeking a tighter defence, Pep has somewhat nullified their attacking potency.

It's great for us. They're still a threat of course and I still view them as our main rival for this season's title despite where Spurs are points-wise, but we'll know more in the 19-25 game section of the season before the run-in.

If we get to February in top (or close to it) with a couple more players back (Thiago hopefully one of them) and maybe a January acquisition at centre-back, you'd back us to go into that Winning-Machine mode and grab no. 20 by the Bosingwas.

What an excellent goal by Harvey Elliott yesterday. The 17 year old already has 3 goals and 4 assists playing for Blackburn Rovers.

Southampton up to 3rd, one point off the top. Says much more about the quality of the league this season than how good Southampton are. They are solid if unspectacular with a few goals in them. They will probably get top 6 or go close if they can keep their main players fit, their squad has no depth whatsoever.

Sheff Utd deep in the brown stuff.

F/T Southampton 3-0 Sheff Utd

Southampton up to 3rd, one point off the top. Says much more about the quality of the league this season than how good Southampton are. They are solid if unspectacular with a few goals in them. They will probably get top 6 or go close if they can keep their main players fit, their squad has no depth whatsoever.

Sheff Utd deep in the brown stuff.

Sheff utd have man utd next too, easy win for man utd!

Is football quality on a decline as a whole? very weird this season not just here, spain and germany to some degree

3 games in 6 days and he played Jota and Salah for an almost combined 180 minutes in a dead runner v the Danish Thugs.

Nowhere for Klopp to go if we are found wanting in the next 3.

Think he broke a "pressures" record in a recent outing. He is definitely good at closing down passing channels / creating pressing shadows. He isn't physically strong enough in some situations (Benayoun-esque) but he can definitely contribute.

I honestly think he gets the season regardless.

They're not getting relegated (hardly a compliment though) and they won all 6 matches in their Europa League group.

I think he'll be given the chance to acquire Champion's League football for the 21/22 season via the Europa League. Don't see them winning it (some of the sides that "drop down" from the Champion's League should be too strong) but you never know. Plus the League is so tight this season that if they did somehow (they won't) do something like win 6 matches in a row, they'd suddenly find themselves 3rd-5th most likely.

Only 18 minutes in but this City team are a shadow of their team of a couple of years ago.

Most definitely. Silva, Aguero, Kompany are those irreplaceable types. They made other players look very good. But in essence they were the real world class level.

Laporte, de Bruyne could be that level but 1 injuries and the other despite mercurial ability is starting to blow hot and cold. He is either very good or men (KDB) and I love the guy to bits but think he has dropped a couple of levels this season.

Man City score one of their usual boring goals (described as 'sharp' by whoever is commentating, as well as Andy Townsend moments later) i.e. $t£rling to the byline, cut back for someone to tap in. Zzzzzzzzz.

WBA have just been defending deeper and deeper waiting for City to score.
Usual City goal, Sterling pull back from the bye line for someone to run onto it.
So so predictable but shite like WBA are pretty clueless at defending against it.

As I knew they would be. Stop Man City being able to take the ball down the flanks to the goal line, and you cut out the majority of their attacks.

I'm sure multi millionaire Grealish will find some other way of being able to get himself around without having to resort to using public transport or walking.

First half stats
City 77% possession
Shots
City 6 with 2 on target
WBA 4 with 2 on target

Loads of City possession but done little with it.
When out of possession WBA been set up as a 6-3-1

My internet is playing up, and after trying for 15 mins to get Amazon back up and running I now have either no commentary, or them sounding like they would if their voices was coming from an old style Walkman whose batteries were about to give up the ghost.

You just know I'm going to have this issue tomorrow. **** my life!?!?!

 + :miserable: + :hopelessness: + :dejection: + :emptiness:

The commentary is intensely annoying anyway. The guy just insist on organically shouting the name of any City player who has a shot however utterly shite it is.

WBA have been pretty comfortable and kept City to long range speculative efforts but as we move into the latter stages, they will get more and more tired and one lapse in concentration and you know what will happen

As if to underline that point, here comes Aguero.

West Brom have continuously gifted the ball back to City every single time they’ve won it back. They have completed just 125 passes after 80 minutes compared to City’s nigh on 600

I knew someone was going to say what you just did. I wasn't just having an audio issue. For fifteen plus minutes I couldn't get any visuals, nir any access to here or any other website.

Shocker of a dive from Gundagon wins a free kick on the edge of the box in the 86th minute. On target from DE BRUYNE!!!
But it’s saved.
