Some shoots of recovery! Let's keep it going.

Assuming Mane and Fabinho are still injured -

.........................Alisson

Trent...Phillips.....Henderson...Robertson

.......................Wijnaldum

................Thiago.......Jones

...Salah...........Firmino..........Shaqiri

Saving Milner for possible use against Man City. Protecting Ox for potentially playing against Man City, though I might want Shaqiri for that game - the fact we have selection options despite the injury list says a lot about the squad when things are going well.

Boom!

same as you, I expect the same today defend defend defend until we get the right pass and some magic, then they might start playing when it's too late.

I could play at CB maybe..

What's the problem. Hendo looks like he's played there all his life and Phillips was excellent again. :calm:

Can anyone see either new CB getting in ? With a mind to bed in before city?

Seems Ozan Kabak was on the clubs watch list for a while. Klopp might fancy throwing him into the mix.

I'd be surprised - it will depend on Fabinho I think.

If Fabinho is fit for Brighton (someone in here said he was out for the season, then quickly said that was incorrect, don't think we have had any update since him not being available for West Ham?) then I think it's Fabinho+Henderson, for both Brighton and Man City, to keep some sort of chemistry.

Then after that integrate others. Brighton is on Wednesday after all, so Kabak or Davies would have tomorrow (it's tomorrow in about 15 minutes!) and some of Wednesday for prep.

If Fabinho isn't available for Brighton though? Think all bets are off!

Aware on Matip, but someone had put up a post saying Fabinho was out, then put a post saying something to the effect of "ignore that" but having had the Matip news I was on edge and waiting with baited breath for the worst!

Fabinho expected back for Man City though if its 50/50 we not play him.

On Kabak coming from Germany not sure on Covid rules and if he can play tomorrow.

I think Miller has it correct Hendo/Nat.

With our forward line finding the goals again you would hope we'll have enough to beat Brighton and Hendo and Nat should be good enough to not worry to much about the defence.
Now City are a different beast altogether.

When are they goign to play then?

Is are midfield going to continue to suffer due to playing midfielders at CB??

Will they play when they've "settled in" when VVD and gomez are back? and we have 5-6 cbs?

Im guessing City for Kabak as he was still in Germany yesterday sure he arrives later in week.

Davies will be on the bench tomorrow is my guess.

Nevermind them pair when is the Greek lad going to start surely he plays tomorrow ?

I'd be amazed if either starts against City. He'll only have a couple of training sessions.
Having Henderson and Nat form a partnership could be a good thing. Starting them against Brighton that will be another game together then onto City. Crazy to think if Fabinho gets fit then would he go back into Defence and Hendo back into midfield ?

Maybe we didn't need a CB after all!?!?! Lolz

This is why people wanted someone with actual proven quality because they could fit right in which is what we need (doesn't mean it would cost the earth either), but oh well bargain bucket will do.

FSG should go on bargain hunt they'd smash it much profits

if we can't trust davies to come in, it's a waste of time in the first place, purely so we can sell him on in 1-2 years for 10m

I suspect they'll play after City. Rhythm and chemistry are important at centre-back and the game against City probably gives us our only opportunity to draw City back "down" into a realistic title fight. The 7-point gap they have over us, given their recent habit of winning games, is too much. A 4-point gap makes it possible. You don't want to throw someone in against that who simply hasn't had any time to gel with a partner.

Once the City game is done I imagine the likes of Kabak get their opportunity and are told "you're a mainstay as one of the centre-backs until the end of the season, go win your right to a long-term contract with us" and we go from there.

When Van Dijk and Gomez come back I think we will have two more (centre-backs) in the squad where that's their main role (ie not a conversion like Fabinho) and there will be a 5th player, that is either a youth centre-back, or someone like Fabinho filling in (which I think we could accept as FIFTH choice, given the relatively low chance of four centre-backs being injured).

Give them a chance Kev, they’re going to need to train with the team for a few sessions. Neither has even played in the Prem before let alone played for us. The way we play with a high back line, it only takes one to drop off when the others push up and the opposition are clean through.
It’s not about ability it’s about getting used to the system. Robbo was given plenty of time to get up to speed and he knew the Prem. I don’t imagine it will be too long after City before we see them start to be introduced but straight away would be mad.

No, I really wouldn't. But I wouldn't have trusted Robbo or Gini either and they turned out okay. All I'm saying is that none of us get paid to analyse football for a living. There's a chance the lads at the club who do have found another decent player for a tiny fee. Give them a chance ffs.

I think hes only just arrived in Liverpool late this morning. Maybe he'll have a training session later today. So for him to start tomorrow night is pushing it. Maybe on the bench and when we go 3-0 up at half time then he could come on.

Also I thought Fabinho was always a centrehalf back up for us. He's played there before iirc.

Sadly I think fabinho will fill in at CB before the new arrivals, much to 19x's delights.

That midfield would be great but can’t see it with so little time between now and the City game.

Hell of maelstrom that to throw either new lad into - a potential championship decider in your first game.

But - Klopp is a borderline loon - so who knows

Don't want either to play v City btw, but if it was someone like Ramos- just for a example!! or someone more known but less money people would probably say they'd go straight into the team..... which is my point, I just hope it doesn't take 6+ games... I mean we need them for now, I doubt VVD and gomez will both pickup repeat injury's next season, I expect one to take gomez's place a bit though.. he's a bit better version of matip on the injury front...

Davies is for numbers to resell in a couple of years much like Miniminao (depending on how many brits we have) decent 4th choice eitherway but so is phillips tbh

kabak is generally a future starter/prospect along side VVD

We're still in the champions league and in for a shot at the title still.... are these 2 the solution for the short-term? I'm not so sure, but heyho more body's n all that can't complain.

P.S I know normally time is given under Klopp for players, but... normally we don't have 3 cb's out all season and bring 2 in, In january.. other teams start players that have just come in, and they do ok normally..

Find it hard to guess.

Bought 2 players in with a higher standing in the game than Philips/Williams, in a season where diving in at the deep end has occured a few times already.

In terms of Kabak and Davies, we have the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in-between the City and Leicester fixtures.

To me, if you want to get them up to speed and available for us and pick a partnership utilising one or both of them, that weeks seems like the time to lay the groundwork.

Jurgen pretty much confirmed it highly unlikely either new CB will start either of the next 2 games, very much expected and very wise imo, i think one or both might well be on the bench in case there is a need to push Captain Fantastic into midfield, they do need time to settle and as we've been playing well, risking either seems pointless

I think Kabak is going to be good for us.

Bit surprised that Milner is in again. Are they really tempting fate?
What is the bench like?

He's been excellent, the plan is likely to give him 45-60 minutes again, no travelling for this game or the next gives a little more r and r time too

Shaq deserves another chance also, and it is good trying to develop the diamond with Shaq in there as an alternate system, although truth be told, it isn't really much different at all from our 433

Big Quaver starts and still no Manè in the squad. Nor either of the new signings.

I've noticed them pronouncing it "Kwee-vin" in commentary and the only fellas I have known with the name spelt the same way it's been "Kee-veen" so I am all sorts of confused.

Playing milner and shaqiri this quickly after last games is a recipe for a injury.... happened to milner a few times but at least he was sub'd last game early so had a rest saying that.

One of our commentators mentioned he was from a part of Ireland that pronounces it differently. Might have been bollocks though.
