Need Hendo back in midfield to make the press and counter pressing even better and improve the distribution and have our switches and balls over the top back on, last thing we need in midfield when the press is beginning to look something like is putting fucking Fabinho in there when he lets it get broken more than any other player, was looking through highlights for his bad decision making just the other day, posted one when he had Maitland Niles with Trent forward and then ran straight off him in a situation when he should have stayed with his man because leaving him left us wide open, found another 4 or 5 instances without looking too hard as well. Sorry, he's been a liability since his return from injury, don't care how unpopular it is, I wouldn't have him anywhere fucking near our midfield

Just hope we can be clinical with the chances we get.

In their last 3 games (all comps) they've conceded NINE goals.

I know it's a Derby and they will tighten up and turn it into a Rugby X Chess hybrid, but there are bound to be a few chances.

They also play City tomorrow and whilst I would never normally wish City well, a demoralising defeat against Pep's lads could just make them that bit more mentally shaky by the time the weekend comes around. Fine margins and all that.

Yep hope City bum them and the bitter twats have a couple sent off for putting the boot in, Calvert Lewin's out tomorrow with a hamstring be a huge risk for them to rush him back for the Derby

Best outcome for our season now is to finish second and strongly, win the Champions League and the filthy to drop out of the top four, need to put all our focus on each next game starting with the derby on Saturday and get the win

The Friendly Derby..

It was always one of the most hotly contested games - record for Red cards I think. The friendly Derby was coined due to fans being so often mixed in the stands etc - and there never being any true animosity.

Once the whistle went it was always a battle for the players. A game my old fella would hide from fearing injury - even back in the 60’s and 70’s

dicko’a team would do the job however..!

miller0863
18th February 2021, 03:00 PM
The friendly part always referred to the fans, that all changed after Heysel in ‘85 when the resulting ban prevented Everton from playing in the European Cup and for me after Hillsboro and their fans subsequent disgusting behaviour, mimicking people crushed up against the fences.
Have enjoyed every defeat of theirs ever since. In recent years their abhorrent behaviour on the pitch has only strengthened that feeling.

Spot on Miller... there’s nothing friendly about this derby.

My biggest fear is who’s going to get knobbled at the weekend. Last night Richarlison was charging around like a man possessed, diving into challenges, mostly late. Davies is my other candidate to break a leg. We need to keep a calm head and hope and pray for a decent job from the referee.

Last seasons game at Anfield was unbelievable from start to finish. Even before the match there was an almighty gasp on the concourse when the team news was announced on the TV screens. Then everyone said "we'll still beat them "!!
The confidence in that team was unbelievable even with a few squad players starting and us the fans loved it.
A win on Saturday could maybe get us back to at least 75% of that confidence following the win in Europe and set us up for a good run in for the rest of the season.
We have to win, nothing else will do.

Not even booked!
Play carried on with Beglin lying pretty much motionless.
It needed several players to alert the referee to the seriousness of the injury and for play to be then stopped to allow for a stretcher to be brought on.

Terrible though it was - and it was tragic, it was commonplace back then. It was considered a mans game. You accepted the risk. There was no trial by one of 100 cameras. No panel of media baying for punishment. The modern game is totally different.

Makes you wonder the impact a player like Maradona would have today.. incredible though it may seem he would have likely taken Napoli to multiple European Cups - Argentina to multiple World Cups ( he was only one game away from that as is ).

He would be literally untouchable with modern officiating.

Let the quest begin. We need to find the next Diego. Until then let’s focus on getting Diogo back fit.

Let’s go all out attack for this one.. We need to win - any win - anyhow, seems our best bet right now - Everton will make life a nightmare for our back line unless we do.

Klopp on Keita: "He could have been in the squad v Leipzig but it didn't make sense. So he stayed home and trained but he got ill and couldn't train until yesterday. We don't hold him back or force him in. It would be nice to have him."

£50m plus should have bought a really top class midfielder, 30 plus games per season. Keita has been a joke from the off. Saw him very early on at Southampton and they bullied him all game, then he gave up and minced off “injured”. Questioned then whether he would be up to it, nothing has happened since to change my mind. Hopeless.

May be useful in a swap deal back to Germany.

When he's played he's featured in some of our best performances, but it's useless if he's never fit, i have sympathy for all our other sicknotes, but none whatsoever for Keita as the cause of all his injuries to me is him deciding to go to Afcon and play injured for Guinea's no hopers after a very average first season for a club that paid 50m for him, after playing injured it has been niggle after niggle ever since, prepared to play through the pain for Guinea but not the club, he can fuck right off now

To me, if you play when injured, numerous other muscles in other areas work harder and differently and are put under more strain than they are used to, even moreso in the finely tuned and delberately developed body of a professional sports person and it throws every out of balance and leads to the persisting type of recurring minor injuries we've seen in Naby ever since

I think the same about Matip too but Klopp actually said he plays through the pain, I'm sceptical. Pit him against someone like Hendo, I'm thinking one would have a much higher pain threshold in order to play for LFC than the other.

The only thing vaguely instrumental we have had from Keita is the sick note he keeps producing.
