Liverpool XI v Chelsea

Mamardashvili;
Jones, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez;
Gravenberch, Mac Allister
Szoboszlai
Frimpong Gakpo.Rio

Subs: Woodman, Gomez, Isak, Chiesa, Robertson, Nyoni, Morrison, Wright, Ndiaye.

Well it wont be listed among our greatest ever elevens but it should have enough to beat a woefully out of form Chelsea.

Would rather Woodman in goal to be fair, really not sure about this fella and Robbo should be starting behind Rio.

Team news

● Alisson Becker could return from injury and replace Freddie Woodman between the sticks.
● Mohamed Salah is struggling with a muscle problem but is set to play again this season.
● Giorgi Mamardashvili and Wataru Endo will not be available for a few weeks.
● Giovanni Leoni, Conor Bradley and Hugo Ekitike have been ruled out for the rest of the campaign

● Luke Shaw is doubtful after he was forced off in Monday's win over Brentford.
● His absence could see Patrick Dorgu make his first appearance since January.
● Matheus Cunha is also touch and go after he missed the game with a groin problem.
● Lisandro Martinez completes a three-game ban, while Matthijs de Ligt is battling to play again this season.

The whoscored prediction:

● Manchester United's win over Brentford on Monday mean they're now within one victory of securing a top-five finish and returning to the Champions League.
● The Red Devils are looking for their first league double over their bitter rivals for a decade.
● Liverpool have hit form at just the right time and head to Old Trafford looking to win four games on the bounce for the first time since their five-game winning run at the start of the season.
● The Reds have lost just one of their last seven Premier League trips to Manchester United - a 2-1 defeat in September 2022.

Manu 2-1 LFC

The whoscored badstars

Epl injuries suggest Mo & Alisson won't be back for this one :(

My team:

Woodman
Jones Konate VVD Robbo
Sobozla Grav
Frimpong Wirtz Gakpo

Konate to Sign a New Deal?

Ibrahima Konate is set to sign a new long-term contract at Liverpool, ending months of speculation over his Anfield future.
Konate will be a free agent this summer as things stand and has been linked with a move away from Anfield for several months, with Real Madrid repeatedly named as a potential destination.

However, the centre-back revealed after Sunday's 2-1 win over Everton that he is on the cusp of extending his stay on Merseyside, claiming a move away was never part of his thinking having become a mainstay of the team since his 2021 switch from RB Leipzig.
To be fair, there are many things people have said, but for a long time we have spoken with the club and we are [now] close to an agreement," Konate explained. "I think everyone wished for that for as long as possible but we are in a good way.

For sure there is a big chance Im here next season. This is what I always wanted. Im waiting to sort the contract but when everything is sorted you will have to ask (sporting director) Richard Hughes what I said to him in September, November and hes going to say something to make everyone quiet.

Yes [it's taken a long time] but this is a negotiation. With Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah last season it was exactly the same, I think they signed the contract in April and this is maybe how the club want it.

He added: I think I'm a leader already for this team, for the younger players, for the players of my generation, everyone to be fair. We know this is part of the football life. The legends are going to leave one day and after it's going to be our turn to take the lead, you know.

"I started [doing] this already since years ago and more in the last few months and it's a big responsibility. But we start and we play football to have this kind of chance and to make sure everything is fine for this amazing club. But I need the help of everyone as well. I cannot do everything alone.

That's why I said, when everything's going to be sorted, I wish you had a discussion with Richard and asked what I said to him a few months ago before everyone talked about everything and when hes going to reply, you will see. I just wish that."

What a derby, some say its the greatest derby, and what a derby day win today.

Salah scores the 1st derby day goal at the Dickinson :(
a hilarious goal given their celebrations moments earlier.

Then at the death VVD with a header past Prickford for a 1-2 win in a shit season.

In honour of the derby day here's some Origi stats for fun, his record v Everton

Played 14
Scored 7
Assisted 3
657 minutes
Goal or assist per 65.7 minutes :D

And here's a winner stays on derby day goals short,
unfortunately today's goal are not included,
There are still plenty to pick from :D

And speaking of midfield two midfielders and Wirtz in a derby

Isak, Ekitike.

Subs: Woodman, Misciur, Gomez, Salah, Chiesa, Jones, Gakpo, Robertson, Nyoni, Nallo, Ngumoha

Feel for Mo but as with young Rio probably not considered diligent enough in tracking back.

Think we might be looking a bit narrow with Wirtz floating in a 10 roll behind Ekitike and a surprising starter in Alexander Isak.

Would have started Robbo.
