Konate to Sign a New Deal?

Ibrahima Konate is set to sign a new long-term contract at Liverpool, ending months of speculation over his Anfield future.
Konate will be a free agent this summer as things stand and has been linked with a move away from Anfield for several months, with Real Madrid repeatedly named as a potential destination.

However, the centre-back revealed after Sunday's 2-1 win over Everton that he is on the cusp of extending his stay on Merseyside, claiming a move away was never part of his thinking having become a mainstay of the team since his 2021 switch from RB Leipzig.
“To be fair, there are many things people have said, but for a long time we have spoken with the club and we are [now] close to an agreement," Konate explained. "I think everyone wished for that for as long as possible but we are in a good way.

“For sure there is a big chance I’m here next season. This is what I always wanted. I’m waiting to sort the contract but when everything is sorted you will have to ask (sporting director) Richard Hughes what I said to him in September, November and he’s going to say something to make everyone quiet.

“Yes [it's taken a long time] but this is a negotiation. With Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah last season it was exactly the same, I think they signed the contract in April and this is maybe how the club want it.”

He added: “I think I'm a leader already for this team, for the younger players, for the players of my generation, everyone to be fair. We know this is part of the football life. The legends are going to leave one day and after it's going to be our turn to take the lead, you know.

"I started [doing] this already since years ago and more in the last few months and it's a big responsibility. But we start and we play football to have this kind of chance and to make sure everything is fine for this amazing club. But I need the help of everyone as well. I cannot do everything alone.

“That's why I said, when everything's going to be sorted, I wish you had a discussion with Richard and asked what I said to him a few months ago before everyone talked about everything and when he’s going to reply, you will see. I just wish that."

What a derby, some say its the greatest derby, and what a derby day win today.

Salah scores the 1st derby day goal at the Dickinson :(
a hilarious goal given their celebrations moments earlier.

Then at the death VVD with a header past Prickford for a 1-2 win in a shit season.

In honour of the derby day here's some Origi stats for fun, his record v Everton

Played 14
Scored 7
Assisted 3
657 minutes
Goal or assist per 65.7 minutes :D

And here's a winner stays on derby day goals short,
unfortunately today's goal are not included,
There are still plenty to pick from :D

Liverpool XI v Everton

Mamardashvili

Szoboszlai
Konate
VVD
Robertson

Gravenberch
Jones

Wirtz

Salah
Isak
Gakpo

Subs: Woodman, Kerkez, Frimpong, MacAllister, Chiesa, Rio, Nyoni

What a farce that we have Frimpong on the bench and we are wondering which midfielder is going to play RB.
And speaking of midfield… two midfielders and Wirtz in a derby

Dear God help us.

Feel for Mo but as with young Rio probably not considered diligent enough in tracking back.

Think we might be looking a bit narrow with Wirtz floating in a 10 roll behind Ekitike and a surprising starter in Alexander Isak.

Would have started Robbo.

0-0 so far in the Real Madrid v Bayern Munich match. In the unlikely event that we got past PSG I'd rather face Bayern, as their capacity to go 4-2-4 in attacking possession phases can leave gaps in midfield that could be worked with.

Should be a good match this as Bayern are full of goals.

Wirtz is not a left sided attacker. but we have no one other than Rio and hes a bit too young to start such a massive game.
So will stick with Wirzt for the time being. Curtis Jones can come on when the match is finished to pick up the ball.

OK this is it for our season.
Three massive games AND a premier league game that could see us getting into the top four OR missing out!
Including two games against PSG with the added bonus of PSG being given a full week off between the two games thanks to the French F.A.
First up Manchester City away in the FA Cup.
Second game PSG away in the Champs League
Third game Fulham at home in the EPL.
Fourth game PSG home Champs League.
These games could define our season and Arne's second season on charge.
How will we do?
Will Arne still be in charge after the four games?
We're certainly capable of beating UAE115 with the right mentality.
PSG I'm not sure. We lost on penalties against them last season but we had a stable, winning mentality back then.
We should beat Fulham and ease into the top four if the planets align.
Each performance and result can give us an impetus for the next games to come.
Exciting times.
